Dungeon 16 Turn 39
————

Ricki, Kamau, and Ix steel themselves and enter the corn general’s war room. The towering vegetable hefts the cauliflailer, sizing up the party to determine which of them it deems the most dangerous, and the most necessary to eliminate.

Wasting no time, the party charges! While Kamau takes his usual position to intercept the incoming blow, Ricki, Ix, Princess, Toaster, and a random mushroom leap to battle!

The corn general mows them all down as it runs out of the room. It seems its keen strategic mind told it the best move was to get the hell out of there. It still took significant damage on the way out, but it’s on the loose now, and who knows what sort of backup plans it might have.
On the floor below, after using her chameluxeon mittens to climb across the ceiling to reach another chest, Botanya wonders what all the commotion up above is about. She hopes Golly is still okay.

Dammit. We can only comb for him 1 room at a time cuz Kamau remorse out if anyone else get smacked by cauliflail. He can even oneshot them if he gets a lucky hit >.<
Not quite: Botanya could go down and immediately along the ceiling using the gloves, then left (and stay out of reach of somebody on some floor). (If “comb” means “find” and not “engage”.)
Plan: pray general is still left
If we find general, this overkills by 3-4 damage. If not, this is the only room Kamau can interpose anyway so we cant go further.
Kamau: Move left to find general. Interpose for whatever he tries to attack
Ricki: Move left to find general. Attack general with spider gland
Ix, princess, mushie, toaster: Move left to find general. Attack general.
Botanya: Go past lettuce to loot chest. Hope for a parachute.
If we went left&right to Botanya, we’d obviously see him in this turn. He may have went left&down. I wouldn’t mind if he took the fast way down via hole, as he’d get some noticeable falling damage. But Enemies page says General has 2 mov, so he could simply jump over the small hole and then go down the ladder and down our rope. That’s highly unfortunate, as he’s faster than Kamau. If Kamau uses action to sprint after the General, then he’s useless in that turn, no attack, no interpose.
To escape he would have had to drop down the hole and take fall damage, ending his turn where paws used to be. I think we don’t chase, but catch him when he groups up right
I hope so! But I don’t see why would he need to drop down? He has 2 Mov and knows the room layout, and most probably he can use our rope instead of falling. I just hope he won’t tear our rope in the process :/
I don’t see how he can change his direction while falling if we can’t. That hole in the top is right over the hole in the bottom
Someone did the size comparison on discord and hes too big to fit in the holes to go down at all even with the landmine hole. I hope they’re right and he doesnt have another secret passage down or something >.<
Ricki: point out the hole in the floor. Everybody: avoid falling through that hole.
I just tried editing this in just in case and add loot distribution but it is not letting me edit anymore 🙁
Should be fine tho, its not a hidden trap like landmine was.
@LSN if you see this plz have Ricki get cauliflail and Ix the corn horn and make sure everyone dont fall
General has mov 2.
They could be in the imp room, they could be in the room the rope leads down to. They could get to Botanya next turn and destroy her, and we can’t get Kamau there in time to interpose. Don’t split the party, I guess.
But I think the General is running for a more advantageous positioning, with a ton of mobs to shield him. And since next is turn 40, the chances we find two corn knights to slow the chase seem like a guarantee.
If Botanya is not mowed down next turn, we might need to think of ways to preserve the giant flower stalk, as there are still rooms to explore and at least two more corn knights to defeat, not counting any summoned by the General next turn.
Plan: we’ll find him later.
General is faster than kamau, so we cant catch him while he runs. All we can do is wait for him to regroup and deal with him then.
We know he’s not with botania. So he must have jumped down hole and ended in paws room (hope he took fall damage. If he’s smart, which his description says he is, he’ll deduce that his allies south are gone since the ones in paws room are gone. So he’s probably going to go right and regroup with either lettuce or peas.
Kamau: move left. Hop over hole and down ladder. Climb down rope if it is there.
Ricki: left. End turn at bottom of ladder
Ix: left. End turn at bottom of ladder
Botania: pick up Midas gloves and as much broccoli as you can.
Given the size of the general, he may have made the floor hole larger. Is this a good idea?
The General has no point in jumping into the hole in the top floor. Like, at all. Zero.
Jumping into the hole on top floor only means more damage to him. He knows the layout of the room. Instead, he’d just walk over the top hole, move down the ladder, and then either choose to stay, or choose to walk over the cloud rightwards towards the normal exit from his castle (but he didn’t do that – we’d see him), or could choose to jump into the hole in the lower floor.
That’s what he knew when he started moving. But when he got there, he saw no cloud to walk on rightwards, the hole is big enough he probably can’t jump over, and our rope is comfortably attached to the ladder. Considering his description, I highly doubt he’d do any jumping and self-damaging instead of just using our rope.
Im assuming he can’t fit down ladder as he’s bigger than the lettuce, so im he put the pressure plate trap there as an escape route. It is no coincidence this was the only pressure plate trap we’ve seen that has ever damaged a floor while triggering.
If we hadnt triggered it before, he would have as part of his escape.
oh, that’s true…
Oh. So the ladder’s hole is restricting movements for large enemies? I haven’t considered it.
But hes a strategic genius. He can tell kamau is crazy hard to kill so he may be doing guerrilla tactics and try to oneshot the others when we enter a room without interpose. I’m paranoid he will kill someone AND remorse kamau
great, now im paranoid
now im scared he’s gonna have an army of corns when we find him and then ambush use and all of us die… or maybe…
