Dungeon 16 Turn 38
————

Kamau and princess finish off the final, grievously wounded corn knight. There are now three more corn spears and three suits of chain armour on the ground.
Ix reels back and strikes the damaged floor with the full power of the shocktail javelin. The floor shatters, dropping the loose corn spear down to the cloud below, which is cleaved in twain by the razor sharp vegetable (???).
Botanya attempts to use the sunstone to summon a flytrap, but she can’t summon a new pet when she already has one! She also doesn’t want to create a new flytrap for no purpose other than to destroy it. It’s just too cruel.
Ricki uses the lens on the floor to identify the imp. She also gets closer to see if it has anything else to say for itself.
“…Why do I feel targeted right now?”

IMP
HP: 5
Atk: 2
Def: 4
Ability: 30% evasion, immune to fire, ice, lightning, and poison damage, able to make demon deals, teleports away after being attacked
Drops: Demon Ichor
The least of demons, prone to hiding out in remote locations where they nonetheless know they can be found by those with poor risk assessment skills. Like all demons, they can offer power in exchange for a blood price, but the long term consequences of such a deal are poorly understood. They are cowardly by nature and disappear at the first sign of danger.

Ricky: ask what deal he wanted to offer back then w.r.t. sunstone, then join the party in whatever room they end up.
Other party members: no idea, follow other suggestions from other readers 🙂
Some turn commentary
Ok. That was … kinda dumb. Or smart 🙂
The spear falling and ‘finishing off’ was a nice chain reaction, but that hole in the bottom floor might be quite too large to jump over for most. And we don’t have a rope on the other side of the gap to easily climb back from the platform from the room below.
Monetary-wise, we’ve left there a lot of stuff we could sell in the room to the right, and we’ve lost easy access to that stuff. That includes some eatable-weapons that could serve as healing. Accessing that itemized gold or healing will cost precious turns an actions to go the longer path, including climbing ladders broken by lettuce.
Strategically/tactically-wise, that cloud was on its last hitpoints anyways. Having it there might let us pass once, but that’s it. If we forgot about cloud’s HP we could risk our people falling. Or the General could use it as a run away path, and after him the cloud would be gone, making it hard for us to chase him. Now cloud is gone, problem is gone. That’s the smart view.
Looking into the future, aside from the items in the right room, we’ve not lost anything. To get to the yet-unknown righmost part of the dungeon, we would previously go right then jump down the right broken ladder, running past lettuce, then right. That’s 3 mov. Now we have to go down, then right past the lettuce (we can interpose and ignore it), then right. That’s also 3 mov. That’s smart too!
Nice! Yay!
“Blood price” sounds like we can survive it. Sounds like permanent loss of Max HP, or at least until-end-of-dungeon. Definitely doesn’t sound like hearing the deal will screw us up. Also, if we don’t like the deal, DemonIchor sounds interesting. But we need to make sure the attackers can fit into the hole/tunnel and do clean nonelemental 9 damage…
I don’t think “blood price” is as literal as that. Knowing how vague it can be, and how the description specifically mentions “long-term consequences”, which can be nothing other than negative, I reckon it’s too chancy to risk.
I think we have time to grab the drops while kamau is moving. Both ix and Ricki have 2 move and get to that room and away while kamau is moving. Botania has chameleon gloves and can meet them there.
However, we may have to decide our priority of loot:
Midas gloves
Fire bow
Wand of missiles
Chest by lettuce
We cant kill general fast without ricki attacking 🙁
Right. So maybe on the way back 🙂
Plan: general mayhem
Ricki: go through hole and upper right. Attack the general with gargantuan blade (18-21)
Botania: stay with the group and move right.
Ix: move right and melee stab general (35-38 dmg)
Kamau: move right with group. Interpose and keep with the group as they advance.
All pets: attack the general (41-44)
Kamau’s interpose stops nearby allies from being targeted, so even though the general can target 3 with range, his only target option is kamau.
This takes the general down by 75% hp.
how long did it take you to do that math!?!?
Thankfully we haven’t been switching load outs much this dungeon so it has remained mostly constant. Ricki is the variable one since her damage depends on if she uses a poison gland and which one.
Ricki is 12 base. Then 3+ gland when using poison.
Ix is 17 or 8 ranged
Pets do 2, 2, 1, 1
Kamau does 10 vs plants but he’s always tanking so rarely attacks.
Plan: general optimized
We dont need garg gland or Golly to kill general in 2 turns. This remove 19 hp and we can do 24 next turn with spider gland for 43 total when he only got 40hp.
We also hide the stronger hit for finishing blow next turn cuz why not and I’m paranoid he’ll run away with his 2 mov if we hit too hard right away.
Botanya can get a headstart on sorting through the loot on the right room and her aroma nerf general through walls anyways.
Ricki: go through hole and upper right. Attack the general without gland (12)
Ix: move right and melee stab general (29)
Kamau: move right with group. Interpose and keep with the group as they advance.
Toaster, princess, 45: attack the general (34)
Botanya: Put gravity staff, sunstone and robe in golly for his rope and gold. Use action with chameleon gloves to climb right using the bottom side of top floor. Drop down on lettuce platform with your shield up
And Ricki: mind the gap in the floor.
Poor princess. We found a easily beatable non-plant enemy but Kamau is too big to bring her in to eat >.<
Actually, it could be doable. Ricky could attack him for 0 damage (lightning sword, and Imp has immunity) – this would cause him to teleport to another place, probably accessible to everyone (since there’s just this one hole, and everything other is clouds). Unless he teleports out of the dungeon.
“found by those with poor risk assessment skills”
Lol
guys, how does ix do so much damage…
how do all of them do so much damage,
bro remember the first damage, Ricki did one point of damage!all of us: yyyaaaaaaaayy
now: Ricki did 1000000000000 damage us: meh
first dungeon not first damage
Ultimately it is the smiffing rings that add a whooping +6 attack. After that, we’ve enchanted some nice weapons and grabbed a few skills that compliment as well. But keep mind we built the party for this dungeon under the assumption 2 of the 4 party members won’t be attacking.
