Dungeon 14 Turn 9
————
Ricki leads her friends to battle against the killer scorpion, using much the same strategy as against the dragon rider. Ricki and Macadamia defeat the creature, which leaves behind a venom gland that none of them has space to carry. Inventory management is truly the most fearsome foe this group has ever faced.
“are you talking to yourself”
“I’m just narrating the events of your dungeon crawl. It’s fun!”
“i see”
“do you”
“do that a lot”
“All the time!”
“do you do anything else”
“Sure! But don’t worry about me, you just continue your quest!”
“okay”
“i’m gonna go somewhere else now”
Botanya descends the ladder past the now-deceased scorpion and finds a hallway with more kobolds. They appear to be guarding some kind of lever.
Pressure plate next to the ladder. Botanya should not move at this point until Ricki can point out the trap. Another plate further down the hall.
Colorful set of eggs there at the bottom.
Yup. Lot’s of eggs there. Reminds me of crow’s nest we’ve already seen in the Lab. Also, the large gray thing might be a really huge door, anti-Tyrant style. This could mean that smaller dino here might be a the female companion of the “tyrant”? Locked up by the kobolds to farm eggs or something? Or a young one, just spawned from the eggs. I really wonder where does the exit lead to. And what would they do if they meet. Fight? Team up? Go away lead happy life away from here? Hunt us down because the eggs are totes comfy here?
Plan: lever
Kamau: move down, avoid traps and interpose Kobolds.
Ricki: move down and point out the 2 pressure plates to Kamau and Botania. Lens the dragon on bottom floor.
Botania: avoid the traps and flip the lever.
Mac: use collar on golly. Good girl!
Ricki has extra move so she can loot scorpion hole as we make our way back to miner group. No reason to fight this group
Why are you sure that flipping the lever won’t release the baby Tyrant? It is behind what appears to be a reinforced door.
What impact does releasing the baby now have on the dungeon? This is rhetorical.
My theory is that the door requires 3 levers to open (those dark grey lines). Opening the door gives us access to the female tyrant. The one who lays eggs and therefore the source of the hatchery.
The room down there is big enough for the king to patrol down there so I’m guessing the mechanic for this dungeon is using the horn to lure the king away when we want to go down there to take out queen.
Hmm.. yeah, nice guess.. just one lever would be way too easy. Pulling the lever will either open the door, or release one lock, either way – we’ll know something important. It also may do absolutely nothing, if the lever’s target is elsewhere (like, lowering a ladder from the hole in the ceiling on first level, etc)
Are we sure the kobolds wont flip the lever back after we leave the room?
No. But we’ll find out soon enough
Hm.. we could try flipping it and then breaking it? Did we ever try to break a lever?
That is an option to keep in mind. Maybe after we clear the kobolds we can try it
Plan 2 clear kobolds.
Kamau: go down ladder. Avoid traps and cleave the two miner kobolds. Smoke cigs
Ricki: go down. Point out the 2 pressure plates to group. Lens dragon on bottom floor.
Mac: use collar on golly
Alternate plan to avoid kobolds flipping lever back (unsure if would but still). Kamau things the big hitters so next turn we clear them and Botania flips lever. Honestly, we’d have to have Kamau interpose until Botania leaves so this plan is probably safer
Is black not death touch? If so, I think we need to prioritize him.
Cultists do not do their element as damage. That said, they could have an item but they’re attack next turn regardless so can’t tell.
Cultists di buff other kobolds tho so taking out the big swingers will lower the damage next turn and the others can jump in
Egg! Smol dragons!
I’ve reversed my opinion on Sue. Too many people were agreeing with me. Sue should be the main character. Lara should dump Ricki and date Sue. Lohk should adopt Sue and make Ricki do Sue’s laundry
