Dungeon 8 Turn 6
————
Kamau leads the group up past the pair of stirges towards the stump monster on the wagon’s roof. The two bloodsucking parasites latch onto Kamau as he passes, dealing 2 unblockable damage to him. He ends up dragging them with him as he passes.
This second stump turns out to contain a group of squirrels, but their acorns bounce harmlessly off of Kamau’s heavy armour. Ricki and Lara together are easily able to hack the stump apart, killing it and all of its inhabitants. No treasure drops except for a few worthless acorns.
Meanwhile Cordy and their mushroom army attacks the group of squirrels. Most of the squirrels focus on attacking whoever is attacking them, but that leaves one odd squirrel out which attacks one of the little mushrooms. It explodes, ensuring that all five squirrels die in the ensuing cloud of spores. A new little mushroom rises from the pile of corpses.
Lil’ Mushroom damage doesn’t seem to trigger remorse? Good to know.
I don’t think pets get remorse in general
That’s correct. If they did, Kamau would’ve just fully remorsed due to a death.
Those Stirges are probably going to do another 2 unlockable each round until killed.
At least it is not permanent health drain like I feared
Unblockable or not, Kamau should be able to do a standard interpose so they don’t unblockable-damage anyone else, right?
they seem to have physically latched onto him and don’t seem to be letting go, so interpose will likely be irrelevant to them unless they detach and go for someone else.
Lohk would beg to differ on whether acorns are worthless. She can probably roast them.
For posterity, LSN confirmed there was an error in our favor on this page. Defense on the mushrooms wasn’t factored in when he calculated that one of them died to the squirrel attack. Technically we should have ended up with one squirrel surviving this turn and no explosion. Nobody oughta look a gift splosion in the mouth, but I just wanted to make sure nobody would be confused about squirrel damage from this exchange.
Plan to mushroom bomb squirrels, scout and loot:
Kamau: Move a room left, interpose at the stump
Little mushroom 2&5: Each get rid of a squirrel on the chest so Cordy can loot
Cordy: Move a room left with Kamau, loot the chest, then move to the right edge of room
Lara: Loot all weight 1 items from the pile, then scout the room right
Ricki and Daisy: Follow Kamau left and each attack a bloodsucker on him as soon as he interpose.
Explanation:
-Since our objective is right, we need to clear left room before this room or we won’t have anything to do in this room as our characters Mov back from left
-With 3 targets in melee, the squirrels will deal enough damage to kill the little shrooms but not damage Cordy, thereby blowing up all the squirrels and giving us new shrooms back.
-Scouting with Lara is efficient since picking up items as action does not lock moving
-Kamau needs to interpose the stump to ensure we don’t take remorse from it hitting Cordy.
Wouldn’t the bloodsuckers switch to Ricky&Daisy and cause 01/2 remorse?
The unique wording of their behavior seem to indicate they’re stuck on Kamau.
But might as well take no risks so I’ve edited to attack under the interpose. Ricki got Mov to spare anyway.
Cordys shrooms cant attack if he isnt attacking. Pets are buffs to their owner, not individual characters, as previously confirmed in the kobold dungeon.
Then Cordy will attack instead per D4T5, letting the shrooms also attack and nuke the squirrels, which we’d need to do anyway.
But I think they can attack just fine as long as Cordy is there with them?
I recall sending pets to attack another area doesn’t work, but this is the owner‘s area. The mechanics document someone else linked in an earlier turn says the same. Do you have a specific turn in mind?
We’ve had this work before in the manor with Lohk and Daisy, but we also had it not work in the manor. Unclear which way it’ll go.
My biggest problem with this is that I think we really need to try to concentrate on actual dungeon goals, and we probably don’t need this chest to win the dungeon. We do need to move onto the next screen and beat all of the guards, so I’d rather see us attack guards and move onto the next screen than work on an unnecessary chest and scout.
I take it back. Should work perfectly as per https://dungeoneyes.com/dungeon-6-turn-12/
This could cause remorse, but it’s probably not incredibly likely. The two mushrooms will get targeted by rhe squirrels they attack, and the remaining 8 squirrels will be free to attack anyone they want. They’ll probably split attacks between Cordy and his two mushrooms evenly, but they might not. If they all hit Cordy, we’d get 2 points of remorse.
name the mushroom that came from the squirrel’s corpses “wiretap”
people in the discord will get why
Kamau: Interpose guard.
Ricki: Point out traps. Hit Guard 1.
Cordy: Spore Touch Guard 2.
Mushie 4: Help punch Guard 2.
Lara: Hit Guard 3.
Mushie 5: Help hit Guard 3.
Daisy: Bite Stirge 1.
Mushie 1: Bite Stirge 1.
Molly: Kick Stirge 2
Mushie 2: Bite Stirge 2.

Mostly just keeps us where we are and not going left so we can get eyes on the next wagon earlier. But also uses pets to (hopefully) shake off the not Stirges.
Holy shit, Cordy and his mini army are beasts. XD
