Dungeon 6 Turn 15
————
The mom and daughter dog squad retreats from the baatle fight and hurries to the library, where they attack the bookworm before it can eat any of the stuff they haven’t read yet. Its body is squishy and easily damaged, but it seems to be pretty determined despite that. It opens its cavernous maw and attempts to chew on Ricki, but her shield protects her.
After dropping some of her gear for someone else to pick up, Lara swings her heavy pick and brains the ladybaatle she already hurt before. She takes no damage in return, as the bugs don’t seem to hit as hard when they’re not being thrown.
Mac arrives back in the kitchen after breaking apart one of the dog skeletons in the entrance room. He immediately gets hit in the face with a ghost sword, losing 1 HP for the rest of the dungeon.
Continue the killings!
Lara and Mac attack bugs
Ricki and Lohk attack the worm
Please get mac to pickup his sword and shield first
Another data point for ghost hitting whoever is closest to tomb…
That is 3 times in a row. I think we should try to put Lohk or Lara closest for turn 20.
Mac: crawl under table and pickup sword and shield.
Lara: kill other ladybaatle
Team goblin and wolfspider : attack/frost wormy.
Daisy:guard
Pretty straightforward turn.
For next turn, I’m thinking Lara search bed and Mac join Team goblin. Reason being that we dont want to move Lara out of that area until we know it is 100% clear of all threats (to avoid moving through flies more than once). If lara doesnt kill last bug then she can finish it off and Mac can search instead
That sounds about right to me!
Might want to have Mac go check on the skull door then end his turn in the kitchen in addition to the gear pickup. Bit annoying for LSN maybe but it lets us see the skull door and get more info on what the baatle and ladybaatle were for skull purposes.
There are not many lady/baatles here, so that doesn’t give us much intel. We learn the new state of the counters, but it’s not much of any use. Though, if Mac doesn’t have anything better to do, why not. Any intel is a good intel (just sometimes some are better than other:) )
Personally, I’m curious which skull will the bookworm be.
Oh. And how about the bookworm coming out? Did it light some skull back? If it did.. then it may mean that everytime we uncover a hidden monster, we actually make it more time-consuming to open?
I checked the time when ratking jumped out from under the bed. When the ratking showed up, there was no change in the skulls. When ratking died, large skull turned off. So discovering existing hidden monsters don’t reset the skulls. But two small rats that appeared after ratking was defeated did reset the skulls, so bran new spawns do affect it.
Also, it’s interesting that when the 2 small rats were spawned, we had 1 small dark skull, then it reset to green, and when both rats were killed, it ended up with 1 small dark skull as well. It means it remembers the total count properly, even if there’s too few skulls to properly display the count.
We know baatle damage, and under the assumption that skull size is correlated with attack, knowing that these were medium skulls is helpful for supporting that hypothesis and giving us ranges.
Hmm .. sounds reasonable, alright!
Ricki: Keep fighting BookWorm
WolfSpider: Emotionaly support Ricki (do nothing)
Lohk: Tell Daisy to attack ladybaatle and yourelf search under the bed but from safe distance
Lara & Daisy: attack ladybaatle.
Mac: First check the Skeleton Door room. Then go to room with fly’s and take your aggresion out on the stove pipe. Kick it untill it breaks (hopefully releasing smoke and scaring away flies so we avoid 1 unblockable dmg) and you feel better. We need to slowly easy him into aggresion. Stove pipe now, animals next dungeon, sapients afterwards hehehehe (break the stove pipe in room with flies)
My main reason for waning this: Funny interaction with Maca and the stove.
My Main critisism: Doesn’t have Maca crawl under the table to pick up his gear first. (If he’s able to do that on the same turn. Don’t think he can, but the sword would help with smashing.)
due to changes to inventory picking items up is now an action and if breaking stove is allowed im certain that too will be an action.
so he can’t do it the same turn.
If we are going to smash the pipe it should be before Lara does the trip back, hopefully avoiding 1 unblockable damage on her. Otherwise we only would be doing it for science, and while science on it’s own is good enough reason, not like we can’t optimalise it a bit 😉
once the flies are gone my hope is to put Mac on cooking duty (LSN gave us a hint during intermission that Mac is a good cook) so he won’t need weapons anyway.
Before Lara takes the trip back – yes – but I think he shouldn’t smash the pipe while Lara is on the upper level. The fumes may affect her, if we let them accumulate there. They’ll go up, and in the upper room there’s no hole/etc for the fumes to escape.
Re:cook – great idea!
This is way overkill on the ladybaatle. Better to have Lohk do something in the same room while Daisy fights.
hmm, fine.
Ricki: Continue fighting the bookworm
Wolf Spider: Same.
Lara: Attack the ladybaatle.
Lohk: Run back to Lara, crawling under the table on the way. Search under the bed to see what’s there.
Daisy: Attack the ladybaatle.
Macadamia: Go upstairs, crawling under the table, and grab/equip your equipment. Crawl back under the table and pop down to the basement to check on the skull door, then head back upstairs to end your turn in the kitchen.
This plan gets 10 damage on the Ladybaatle. As long as Lara did no more than 3 damage when she first attacked with the longsword, this will kill the last ladybaatle and get us info on what’s under the bed. It also let’s Ricki keep distracting and chipping away at the bookworm.
there is no point in equiping Mac since we want Lara to grab food stuffs as she is running back (so we minimalise how often we get hit with unblockable damage) and then deposit it by stove. Picking stuff is an action so she might as well grab the equipment at the time.
at that point Mac will be on cooking duty for at least 2 turns. 5 if we can make melted cheese (to deal with mold)
How much inventory space do you think Lara has? With equipment in hand she has 0. Without it she has 3 open slots.
For all readers of this plan (which I upvoted), a reminder for the next turns tomorrow:
Halloween is on Monday, which is an extremely likely time for the dog skeletons to wake up, perhaps even more buffed, and block our moving around the house, especially in the entrance hall. Also, dogs can possibly fetch dropped items and attack the backline.
Therefore, after this, we want to dedicate 5 actions total to finish mopping up all accessible dog skeletons. Not this turn, of course, but in tomorrow’s two turns.
I think we should leave exactly 1 dog skeleton, just to see what happens and if we were right 🙂
