Dungeon 5 Turn 18
————
Kamau reluctantly puts the bucket back on his head, raising his Def high enough that even the assassin can’t get through it, even with the wanted poster in effect. Ricki then finishes off the tall thug just as Lara and her spider descend to take out the short one. The assassin now stands alone.
Kamau: Interpose and take off the bucket because it looks stupid and you don’t need it any more. 😛
Everyone Else: Attack!
If all of the attack power is not needed, the unneeded attacker could open the chest
Kamau: interpose
Ricki: swap swords with Lara. Open Chest behind Ninja.
Lara and Spider: Attack Ninja. Lara with 2h sword.
The chest is unlocked.
how do we know that?
at turn 14 when Ninja uses wanted poster he does it without interacting with chest.
Because of the lock’s color. Yellow is unlocked. Gray is locked. And he took that poster from his inventory.
oh, got’cha
Silver lock chests are locked, gold lock chests are unlocked. That’s been consistent even with doors
This is a contingency plan for if the assassin somehow disappears before we can attack.
Let’s still do the inventory swaps to get to 5 armor each, but after looting the chest we should move one screen right and start on the blues. When doing this movement Ricki should point out the pressure plates and insure all characters do not step on them.
Kamau would fill his partial slot of gold up to 20 on the way, then interpose and use the bucket.
The spider and Lara would take out the hobgoblin with the non-rusty dagger.
Ricki would loot the chest first before following along.
If the poster counts as an unguarded item, lets also have Kamau rip it down to drop it on the floor before we head over to the right.
Everybody watch your step! There are pressure plate traps on the floor!
Edited to include this just in case.
Kamau: Take off the the bucket and interpose.
The rest: Defend (is that a thing? If not, Ricky should retreat to the stairs)
No, that is not a thing. Interpose IS Defend.
The most voted option for this turn had some dialogue in it. Clearly, hasn’t made into the page. On the other hand, we did talk to the guy with the rusted armor at the entrance of the Reds hideout.
This probably means we can’t initiate dialogue after starting a fight.
The ninja is squinting, not sure why, but I’d guess he’s worried about us? We might be able to press him for information.
Therefore I’d propose:
Kamau: Interpose, also take off the Bucket
Lara: Trade weapons with Ricki, attack Ninja with Greatsword
Spider: attack Ninja
Ricki: trade weapons with Lara. Wait for Lara and spider to attack, then intimidate / extort the Ninja for Information if he still lives: “Fancy poster you got there, won’t stop us though. Now information about this dungeon or some missing things just might allow you to live.” If not loot the chest.
(Attacks on the ninja should drive home that he has no other way out, and stack up damage if he wont tell. If he dies, then oh well…. The ninja doesn’t have to know we’re not actually killing people so far either).
Well, if the ninja is attentive, he might note that our weapons and armour and clothes are not blood covered after taking out everyone else of the reds and he might also have noticed that we did not kill the two thugs next to him, but while fighting he might have missed that.
We have repeatedly tried intimidating in previous comments. Unfortunately, that doesn’t work. Likely because of Dungeon Madness.
We’ve never spent any actual actions on trying though. All proposed diplomacy was overruled with attacking right out
My previous suggested post seems to be gone? I got a message that it needed to be approved because of potential spam but now it just appears to be gone. Reposting my suggestion just in case.
Kamau: Take off bucket – trade cigs to Lara for her raw meat. Trade your shield to Ricki for one of her potions and interpose. The ninja does 7 dmg and Kamau with plate and the defense malus from the poster will still have 8 armor (3 innate, 5 from plate, 1 from heavy armor proficiency, minus 1 from the poster).
Ricki: Trade a potion for a shield with Kamau, trade your wolf armor to Lara for her leather armor – wield the shield, wear the armor, then loot the chest. (should have one open inventory slot with these trades to pick up a weight 1 item from the chest). If there are multiple items in the chest, keep any quest items preferentially if possible.
Lara: Trade your raw meat to Kamau for cigs, and trade your leather armor to Ricki for her wolf armor. Wear the leather armor and crit gear, then wield the shield and rat fang. Spend a rat tail to attack the assassin using rat fang and also smoke your cigs. (Should total 8 dmg)
Spider: Attack the assassin (guaranteed 5 damage unless the assassin has some sort of poison defense).
This gets everyone except the spider to have defense >=5 in case of shenanigans with the assassin. Using the cigs and rat tail replaces Ricki’s 4 damage and allows us to still do 13 dmg total before any crits, and up to 16 dmg if the poison crits along with all crit gear.
Remember, people, we have 12 turns before another gang comes in, and we might end up hurting the family. So we have to hit everything hard and cant spend too much time getting caught up.
Conservation of Ninjitsu states this could be a very dangerous situation…
