Dungeon 3 Turn 54
————
Ricki and Kamau go back up to the door room. Kamau engages the skeletons to protect Ricki while she grabs the rope and darts away. He takes no damage, but he can tell that these skeletons hit harder than the ones elsewhere in the dungeon.
Kamau and Ricki: Head up and to the right. Avoid the glass!
Kamau: Give Ricki a boost up to the room above. If you weren’t hit by skeletons: Equip leather armour and climb up with her.
Getting closer… I will note that we don’t have an obvious dungeon-ending threat breathing down our neck just yet.
Confirmation that ashen skeletons have 2 attack each. Good to know.
I’d like to use the lens on the spider dog. As mentioned earlier, we have no idea what it may do and we’ll probably see more In the future.
I don’t know about seeing more like it, though I agree this is the right type of enemy to scan, it’s beefy-looking so it’d take a while to figure out stats. I’d rather cash the lens in, the lens and tarnished solar armour are together worth enough to get plate armour.
Oooooo… That might be a good investment then. I forgot it cost 30.
That said… With LSN’s foreshadowing, I have a gut feeling we might lose Kamau for a while via story elements. Just going of gameplay experience that usually has a reason to switch between party members so we don’t get too over powered. Just a feeling as I said, probably wrong.
Party member switch actually makes sense in the context of “bond” mechanic. We would develop more bonds with party members we pick more often (though Kamau has a slight headstart). Otherwise, if we can take all party members, it’s just a passive counter that increments every dungeon for everyone.
Kamau’s balancing factor is still Remorse, which doesn’t scale with more allies. He’s powerful but prevents us from being able to effectively use other party members. Not an issue when he’s the only available ally.
We need to get other party members before we can worry about picking who to use. I agree that there will probably be dungeons that we can’t bring certain party members to; the bond dungeons might be like that.
Under how to play:
Only four characters in total are able to enter a dungeon together, and one of them will always be Ricki.
As Ricki adventures with her friends, she will gradually become closer to them. By adventuring repeatedly with the same character, new side dungeons can be unlocked which will progress those characters’ individual stories. Doing so will usually make Ricki’s friends more powerful. After developing a strong bond with one of her friends, Ricki will also become more powerful.
So, once we’ve added 3 party members each one becomes more of a trade-off, since we have to choose which to focus on bonding, and which abilities are likely to be useful in a given dungeon. But we’re still a long ways from that being an issue.
Wow. I somehow missed that.
Oooh, I wonder if the party members (other than Ricki) will also develop bonds with each other…
And avoid the glass trap at the top of the ladder as well as the one below the bats.
[Oh, you already do that. Should have done a shift+reload before posting, sorry.]
Reminders are always welcome!
I’m still annoyed that I forgot about that glass earlier in this dungeon. There’s a lot of times where Ricki would’ve totally been fine but we spent a bunch of extra time making super sure because we racked up that early damage.
Kamau: Climb the ladder and go right, then boost Ricki up the ledge and go back left.Ricki: Climb the ladder, mind the glass, go right, then get the boost up to the ledge.Nah it’s fine
Ricki said she felt something ominous. We haven’t checked the graveyard since, andwe pulled up the chandelier. We did see that they were climbing above it, but now that it’s up, there’s no obstacle stopping any new spawn from coming out. It’s been 4 turns, we may have skeletons already wandering to the entrance room that we should clear out quick so we don’t lose that 10 gold, especially if we’re not going to tie that winch and use it right away.We have 2 thieves tools to run and grab, and we should get at least 1 once the rope is tied. Once we know the skeletons are clear, we can have Kamau run back up and interpose vs the sunhead.I have to say, Kamau here looks like he’s posing with friends for a commemorative photo.
