Dungeon 3 Turn 43
————
Ricki darts forward and uses her dagger to cut up the web, which comes apart after the damage it already took. Kamau will no longer take penalties starting next turn.
This turn, however, the spider lands a powerful poisonous bite that deals 1 damage to Kamau, even through his heavy armour. Kamau deals some minor damage to the spider as well.
Kamau: Switch to leather armor then attack the spider
Ricki: Attack with your bolt
Still trying to keep Ricki out of danger.
5 def is 0 damage, 5 def with lucky bite is 1 damage. Does that mean 4 def is 1 damage and 4 lucky is 2 damage? Or???
Let’s science
I wonder if “powerful poisonous bite” is just powerful with flair, or really poisonous. So far, Kamau didn’t say anything about feeling dizzy/etc, but that may take time.
I’m pretty sure that it’s poisonous as in the poison damage type, like how snales dealt poison damage. A ring of poison resistance would give additional defense against poison like how oven mitts give additional defense against fire and the solar armour gives additional defense against holy.
If we get a centipede poison sac, that might explain more about how poisons work. In general, special effects on attacks don’t need to break defense to have an effect, though some might require actual damage like Counterattack.
The last enemy with critical hits dealt 1 extra damage, so I’m now worried that the spider actually does have base 5 attack. In that case, we have saved 4 HP this fight.
Ricki: Stay a safe distance back and use a holy attack on the spider
Kamau: Keep attacking the spider
So… yes poison that has a percent chance. The effect could be a bonus to damage, or possibly 1 unblocked damage.
Kamau: Use longsword to attack spider.
Ricki: Throw dagger at spider. Have Kamau recover dagger for you if it dies.
That’s 0/6 activations for Counterattack now.
Yup. 0/6 with 20% chances. Is Ricky’s RNG luck contagious? 🙂
20% chances: Running until 0/80, and than it starts to do its magic. With Ricki’s luck, it would run until 000/800… 🙁
As people warned at level up, Kamau is good at avoiding low% chances.
Random thought: The fly family upstairs might thank us for killing the spider (if we had any way of communicating with them).
I just looked at intermission-2-page-17 again: We are at the neck of the chapel, and the spire goes up for another … – holy ____!
