Ricki: Unlock the door, then run in and grab whatever’s back there. Tell Kamau you’re only putting the thieves tools on the floor temporarily, honest
Kamau: Switch to solar armor, then interpose for Ricki
Judging by the size of this brown thing and the size of the cracked buckler from dungeon 1, I’m confident this is thing is not a buckler. It could be a bigger shield instead of rope, but it’s definitely not a buckler.
You know, it would be nice if Ricki herself told us (or Kamau) what she is seeinf there. Unless she, too, sees everything pixelated and can’t distinguish things before looting them.
Again, too many actions. Picking up an item in combat is an action, so Ricki can’t both unlock and loot this turn. Kamau could start smashing (with Ricki holding the torch so he can see), but we’ve been warned this is a rough fight.
Careful:
Allows the wearer to make ranged attacks that deal 1 holy damage and light up the room.
It’s not the hat that provides light, it’s the light attack that provides light. If Ricki does anything other than ranged attack for 1 holy damage (like picking the lock or dealing 2 damage with the dagger), then the room is dark.
Same reason why we can’t just give the hat to Kamau to light up the room for his regular sword attacks.
Guys… how about we open the door and do nothing? Enemies often just stand if not attacked.
I know that’s an unorthodox idea, but how about we just open the door, and then just stand and look to see what’s on the floor there? and then decide if to go for it or not?
(Also.. since Ricky has DungeonEyes.. shouldn’t she be able to see it even right now if she focuses on that?)
Well, if it is a rope, and if we need that rope to get to the end of the dungeon, then it makes sense to collect it, doesn’t it? If it is not, then screw it all right!
While I agree to prioritize clearing the dungeon, once we reach our goal then the dungeon is over and we can’t go back to loot. We spent a lot of gold on those thieves tools, so I’m sympathetic to getting our money’s worth, though it’s not like they’re going to go bad.
If we could trade the holy water and a set of thieves tools for a shield, I’d do that. A shield costs 20. What I’m worried about is spending HP, there’s one more room in our way. We have 6 HP to spend since Kamau survives his first trip down to 0, and with the spare leather armour we have much more room for error than when we started if the solar armour breaks. Opening this can of skeletons could go poorly, but probably not too poorly.

Kamau: Climb the ladder then fight the bone dogs. Keep the leather.
Ricki: Climb the ladder, mind the glass, put away the buckler, then fight a single dog.
To be clear, the idea here is that Kamau basically wades past the first skeleton dog to smash the second and stand in the way of the third, while Ricki attacks that first skeledog.
Also, while I want to open with current weaponry to guarantee one down immediately, I suggest that Ricki use the sword on the next round while Kamau uses his hilt. I believe that the skeleton dogs will share the stray dog 3HP/1 Def, meaning Kamau should still oneshot with the hilt and Ricki will be able to take one down with 2 damage one turn and 3 damage on the next. If they’re tougher then it’ll take one more turn, if they’re weaker (humans generally seem to have 5 HP/1 Def vs skeletons having 4 HP/1 Def) then Ricki could oneshot with a sword but we’d still need two turns since there’s three of them.
That’s what I’m thinking, yeah. It looks like a one-way trip, but should be doable. To get back we’d either swing down from the room above or put something in that chimney so we can climb through; rope, ladder, maybe elevator.
This isn’t obvious, though. I assumed we would need to work our way around from the right, but the back yard is completely cut off.
Poking bats in the winch room without climbing down would be a bit of a trick shot. Not a bad idea if we want to then fight the ashen skeletons, but best to leave them alone if we grab the loot and run forward or just skip this room of rooms. Limited benefit in general since Kamau hinted that the fly also has high defense, so activating the bats is more to get enemies to wipe them out for us. I’m a little hesitant to leave enemies in this room as it’s our path out, but to be fair once we clear the dungeon then it doesn’t matter what is behind us.
Also, remember there’s a rat hole behind the centipede which most likely connects to another hidden space in the room above. I suspect Ricki and Kamau could team up to squish the centipede in one turn, 5+2 damage vs 4 HP/3 Def.
Yay sniping 🙂 I like this idea 🙂 But only after we get rid of dogs, and after we try to “see” the rope/shield/whatever, I think that should be possible without attacking skeletons

Get on with the quest. Ignore the nice new shield. Get it later if you must. We may need to pick locks in the bell tower.
Kam/Ricky: Move to the dogs
Kam: Attack the first dog
Ricky: Hit the first dog with light from behind Kam making sure not to him Kam.
Be careful to avoid or step over the glass at the top of the stairs.
Future actions. Kill the dogs. Kam atk, Ricki Zap. Then go back downstairs to check to see if there are skeletons. Kill the skeletons to prevent them from leaving.
Once the dogs are clear and we get down, Kam can hold the sunguy so Ricki can get past. Trigger the bats on the way out. It’s that or swing down to the second floor, and then throw a dagger or light ray the bats to aggro them.
We confirmed in the back yard that Kamau can one-shot a skeleton dog, and there’s a sun-head illuminating that room so he can see. Zapping the same dog as Kamau won’t help.

Ricki: Unlock the door, and then shoot a skeleton with holy beam. It might be evil!
Kamau: smash the skeletons in the face.

Yep, I’m fairly confident it’s a Shield. I also suspect that it’ll be 2 inventory slots for +2 Defense.

Ricki’s hat is providing light. Torch not required.

Why are people so obsessed with obvious shiny distractions when the real goal is to get to the end of the dungeon and ring the bell?
Do this kind of stuff after the bell has been rung.

If Kamau goes in front, then only one dog should attack Ricki. And there’s no way one bone dog has 4 atk.

Good idea for Ricki to stay out of Combat unless absolutely required. Also, more skeletons will be coming out of graves.
How do they get down? Can Kam swing down to the second floor under the dogs?
