Dungeon 18 Turn 3
————

Ricki returns to the bottom room and unscrews the wingnut on the second chandelier, sending it crashing down onto the guards and the solar guardian below with a loud clang and a small burst of fire from the candles. The guardian is destroyed, but not before it kills one of the guards whose disguise had been removed. The remaining guards scoop up all of the loot.
Amadeusz opens the chest on the lowest floor and finds an elemental seal. This could be useful, if used well.

ELEMENTAL SEAL
Consumable
Can be stuck on the wall in a room while naming the fire, ice, lightning, poison, or holy element. Grants +2 damage to all creatures, traps, and hazards in the room when they deal damage of the matching element. Cannot be removed once posted.
Weight 1 (Stack 5), Cost 30

Ah, so those black things on the wall in Ricki’s section are elemental seals. I assume set to holy.
the first 2 dont really do anything if just a holy dmg buff cuz the sunheads only do holy dmg at range so maybe theres more to it?
Plan: Prep
Amad: Go inspect the red poster on the bottom floor. Is that what’s weakening you? In what way/how much?
Ricki: Move up, avoiding pressure plate. Flip the leftmost lever. Go in hole. Drop 1 lockpicks where you emerge from hole so it can be used on the nearby locked gate later.
I think the guards on turn 4 will enter next room then stop on first floor according to patrol rules so getting info is like all amad can do until they move to fight next solar on turn 5.
Ricki’s lever prolly give amad access to the chest and level under. She also makes space in case we want her to loot something without having spent any lockpicks yet
I expect that the steel wall will move up and block Ricki from returning through the hole. That may also delay guards further to investigate the chest and lever.
This could still be okay, but I’d rather have a clear path for Amadeusz to loot the chest.
Kat’s plan, but we take advantage of the rats
Amad: Go inspect the red poster on the bottom floor. Is that what’s weakening you? In what way/how much?
Ricki: Loot the treasure chest sinec the rats are not on top of it right now. Drop a set of lockpicks to make room (and the venom glands if you need more space). Move up, avoiding pressure plate. Keep an eye on the guards to see what they’re doing next.
Given that we have a turn of waiting ahead, we can take advantage of the rats being off the chest and loot it to see if it has anything of use. Next turn we can still flip lever and Amad can loot his chest so we’re not missing anything here.
I think the guards on turn 4 will enter next room then stop on first floor according to patrol rules so getting info is like all amad can do until they move to fight next solar on turn 5.
Paranoid about dropping lockpicks here >.<
We havent seen all the rooms/locks yet so could end up later with us wanting these lockpicks back when the rats sit on them instead.
Also, not 100% sure if the rats are actually off the chest or its just an art shortcut to not need two separate images to show rats biting her when she walks past chest then another to show her dropping chandelier. Like how we know the patrol is always together but the turn 1 art show them separating to show 3 actions in different places happening in 1 image(lensed, chandelier bonked, fight sunhead)
I like the idea though, could try it later if this plan doesn’t get chosen. Like by having Ricki end turn here to bait the rats over on the turn she open the room 3 locked gate so she can try looting rat chest right after.
Amadeusz: Read that red poster. What is it? Is it the source of that weakening effect? End turn in the middle floor, out of sight of both exits from the room.
Ricki: Avoiding the pressure plate, go up the ladder and through the hole. Unlock the gate with thieves tools.
Clearing obstacles early while Ricki has full inventory. I think that the metal wall will move up to block Ricki when revealing the chest for Amadeusz, and I want a clear path with the guards moving on to the next Solar.
That’s a good observation about the wall moving and blocking our path. I forgot that was a thing in the past.
We do risk the owlbear and rat attacking us everytime we go up there but we shouldn’t be going back and forth much (if at all)
I don’t think anyone mentioned the tiny notches in the ceiling above the pressure plate on Ricki’s side. Presumably that’s part of the trap, but there’s nothing on the matching floor above.
Yeah, I’m guessing that part of the ceiling falls on whoever triggers the trap. I feel like we’ve seen that before, but I don’t remember where.
