Looking back at the previous page…none of the comments were a firm, unconditional “no”, only several comments voicing uncertainty and concern. All of which were beaten by the naive but unambiguous two words, “new friend”. This is a decision where the Discord munchkins should have weighed in but everyone let their guard down because it’s an intermission.
We might have avoided an unwinnable fight between chapters but this decision *will* bite Ricki’s party in the ass later one way or another. Also I will call BS if injuries to this guy trigger Remorse on Kamau, the only way I even remotely trust him is if he gets assigned to meatshield duty. Given he set up the mansion that almost killed Lohk and Kamau, it’s a simple matter of tit for tat.
You labor under the illusion we decide events during intermissions outside of choosing next dungeon, party composition, and shopping. We don’t. This is a comic, and LSN retains plot driving privileges as the author 😉
LSN said as much on discord. Last page was not a choice, but a cliffhanger. Amadeusz was always going to join our party and Ricki was always going to let him.
If you wanted a firm, unconditional “no” you had a chance to do so yourself. Oh well! Even if it’s true that we can control events in Intermissions, there are some valid, non-naive reasons to make him join, too. For instance, we already know he’s likely more powerful than us and has info on us as well as info we may need. If we reject him, he’ll likely continue to spy on us anyway. It’s better to have him close and allied with us than somewhere we have no control over. We still outnumber him. And maybe we can gain some knowledge on him. We also know that he knows where we live and could easily have called the guard on us if he wanted to. It’s a classic “keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer” scenario…and we don’t even really know if he’s an enemy, anyway.
Also, the reasoning I gave for potentially not trusting him while simultaneously trusting other allies with shady backgrounds (which can be found on the previous page) is more of a justification than an actual reason. There’s still the other side to that coin, which is that we so willingly chose to have an undead that tried to kill us, an arachnomancer, an illegal ringsmif, an Empire lackey that killed goblins, an unsettling mind-controlling mushroom, a mysterious plant woman who wants to eat other party members, and an old goblin lady that wants to eat our pets into the party. Not to mention we have an underground bandit ring and we stole from and assaulted some innocent merchants. But we’re skeptical of the person who literally gave us a place to live and actually seems to want to help us?
Accepting the offer (albeit uneasily) makes perfect sense.
I don’t see why everyone in the party (except Cyx) is so upset. Yeah, the guy is a bit sus, but he already knows too much about us, so if he wished us harm, he could just send a note to the guards or bounty hunters at any moment, so what’s the worst he can do if he joins us?
I would be more wary of Amadeusz if he stayed at the manor than if he came along to the next dungeon where Kamau (and we, the readers) can keep tabs on him.

At the very least; it’s a better way to keep an eye on the new guy than someone we can’t observe. My main question is.. DO WE STILL GET THE WORG?
I love how Botanya has taken to baby sitting the shrooms while Cordy is away
I also sense that we’re going to get some good discord emotes from today’s post :p
Not least of which would be Coccyx’s derp face

>You could have said “no” yourself
My reason for posting at all was to express regret for missing this opportunity.
Worry not; it was never an opportunity
Botanya and Coccyx wisely reconciled their differences temporarily to gang up on the obvious villain
Given his derp face, I don’t think Coccyx even knows what’s going on. Unlike the others he doesn’t even move in reaction to Ricki’s decision.
Who is this “Ricki” and what decision?!

That’s probably what Ricki is thinking; that would be the eventual price for use of the Manor.
Hmm, no mention just yet of another dungeon option. But will it be mandatory to bring Amadeusz to our next dungeon?
How long can you hold your breath?

Amadeu”sz”, not Amadeus. Polish accents? 🙂
Yeah, that’s how I’ve been pronouncing it in my head. “Amadeuzh.”
