Intermission 9 Page 37

“Now then, as thanks for the trust you’ve shown me in letting me into your home, I’ve brought you a gift.”
‘I’ve liquidated several minor properties that I’ll no longer be needing. Deducting the fees paid to several intermediaries, and added to a bit of pocket change I had lying around, that gives us one hundred gold coins.”
“Yours to do with as you see fit.”
“Wow! Thanks! That’ll go a long way!”
“Think nothing of it.”
“Instead, think of louse-free furniture and proper eating utensils. Just as an example.”
“I’ve also spoken to some of my information sources and learned of two dungeons that we may think of visiting.”
“One is a remote Imperial Guard outpost. Due to its isolated location, it seems that no large-scale attempt has been made to clear it just yet. It’s only a matter of time, though, and my understanding is that several of the Guard are already stationed nearby and making regular inspections. It’s likely we would find weapon stockpiles still stored there.”
“The other is a magical research facility. Similarly, it appears to have been evacuated and abandoned for the time being. I hear that there are many powerful variants of ordinary dungeon creatures present, as well as a great deal of magical equipment.”
“I believe that either one would be a lucrative option for us, as well as a fine opportunity to show you what I’m truly capable of.”
“Hmmm. Interesting…”
“…Well…”
“Something to add, Paws?”
“…Either of these dungeons you’ve mentioned could bring down a lot of attention on us.”
“We’ll certainly be careful.”
“I wouldn’t want to stir the entire hornet’s nest at once. Just my opinion.”
“Noted.”
“Of course, the decision ultimately falls to Ricki, does it not?”
“So, what do you think our next move should be?”
Ricki considers her options. She agrees with Paws that these two new dungeons are probably a little more dangerous than any she’s been to recently. Furthermore, Amadeusz has politely insisted joining the next expedition, which will force her to rely on an unknown element. It might be best to go and take care of that poisoned well before dealing with either of the new options.
Although… she might also want to do as Lara asked and visit her former temple. Amadeusz won’t be joining in on that one, no matter what he says. It could also be saved for later, but Ricki feels like it would be a good idea to give Lara this closure as soon as possible.
What will she decide?
Like this comment to go to the Poisoned Well!
If the Guard Outpost and Research Facility are both completed first, this dungeon will no longer be available.
I appreciate how detailed this voting set is about what will/won’t continue to be available.

This bond dungeon can be done at any time.
Smooch Dungeon, please.
Smooch smooch
Lured to an abandoned destroyed temple in secret by your Crush.
I’m pretty sure this is the start of a horror movie.
Just saying…
By the one who destroyed it, no less!
SMOOCH DUNGEON! (It sounds like fun.)
There’s gonna be no update tomorrow so you have time to choose, then a bonus update Saturday with the result!
AFor people who have trouble reading the coloured text…

This voting is hysterical. Like there was any doubt we’d do smooch dungeon first.
If we are doing Smootch i would prefer to do Magic stuff first and loot some OP stuff to outfit Ricki and Lara for easier Smootching.
Hmm, confirmed that our next non-smooch dungeon will require Amadeusz. I kind of like the sound of the magic facility, lucrative indeed. The poison well continues to not be very inviting, and we can still fit it in to train before taking on a more-dangerous Guard Outpost.
Funding is also big. I’m in for a Kitchen. I’ve also wanted a Wand of Mend, though equipment will be at a premium with only two people of inventory space.
I think it’d be cool of us to at least get the two upgrades he’s intensely hinting at (kitchen and living room). We’ve been kinda neglecting the ‘unlocks more options’ options.
It also gives us ten additional storage slots. That will be helpful for storing some of the stuff that we get from the Outpost and Research Facility.
We’ve generally been able to leave items in the inventory of characters who aren’t going to dungeons, and keeping items around that we aren’t using means not using the stuff we could buy with that loot. Extra storage slots are a side effect.
There is potential cost – we sold the hunting bow last time which is a strict upgrade for Coxxyx, and buying it back puts us down 9gp. Selling it last time let us get… The Dead Drop, which was also a waste of 10gp because the discount doesn’t apply to anything I care about. Getting a mule and Lohk’s room were good, at least.
I like how we now have 29 GP just lying on the floor since it’s too much to fit in our storage. Very Amadeusz.
This guy is still suspicious AF, but we can definitely rule out any immediate harm. He wants something… and if it’s just revenge on the empire or whatever that’s probably fine.
Big if. It feels like something else. Something that involves bringing a lot of heat on us all of the sudden.
I know it’s one page early but we already know what’s coming and can give LSN more time to plan…but what renovations and items are we planning on getting? My vote for renovations is definitely a Kitchen. I’d also like to get the Underground Shelter early so we have a discount on other things coming up, like Mac’s apartment, Kobold Dens for Labor and Storage, etc. But the Kitchen is a must.
We’re definitely discussing it on the discord. I think kitchen is pretty much a given. I’d really like the library and one other room that I’m pretty open on. But current leaders seem to be foyer, living room, or mammoth paddock.
Reminder that Underground Shelter will never give more money than it costs. The only underground renovations at the moment are the Kobold Den which is also a money sink (not even Storage), and Macadamia’s apartment which we could buy for 50 instead of for 25+45=70.
We will not be able to get everything. This isn’t a matter of how fastest to max out the upgrades over unlimited time. Even if it was, having bonuses earlier helps us in dungeons.
That said, adding living space for people is a goal. I think our ending will at least acknowledge the people we helped. It’s precisely because we can’t build everything that those choices say something about what we value. These are poor investments but could be worthwhile expenses.
Agree with the last paragraph. I’d like to try to get as many of the friend rooms as possible.
“I’ve liquidated several minor properties I’ll no longer be needing.”
Makes me wonder if there are other Manor dungeons out there, and other adventurers he makes the same offer to. What if this is what happens if the adventuring party he makes the offer to fails their dungeon? I wonder if he’s keeping track of multiple adventuring parties, and if they die, he liquidates them and lends the money to the ones that succeed.
