“Not bringing Lohk along? Like I said before, best not to use this secret exit too often.”
“I was thinking you could come back and get her after we’re sure this estate is safe.”
“That’s not the sort of service I usually offer.”
“Pleeeease?”
“Okay, okay. But only because you’ve been providing me with such quality merchandise lately.”
“Can you also deliver this note for me, Mister Paws? I was told that you carry messages sometimes.”
“…Fine. When I get around to it.”
“Anyway, we should get going while it’s still early and the roads aren’t too busy. It’s no longer strictly illegal for goblins to leave the city, but I understand that at least some of your group might be recognized and detained if we’re seen.”
“Where exactly do we go? I don’t see any way through the wall.”
“The way through is in a sealed basement in one of these buildings. It leads out into some brush well away from the walls. I’ve got camouflage cloaks on the far side, so we shouldn’t be spotted by sentries as long as we’re fairly quiet.”
“I’m so excited! I’ve never been outside of the city before!”
“Just don’t run off on your own. All the land out there belongs to somebody or other, and in my experience, none of them are fond of trespassers.”
“Let’s go.”
Never been this early. This world seems very dystopian
Maybe it’ll be like the end of Brazil, when Jill and Sam drive out of the city and everything’s actually wonderful out there and … oh, never mind 🙂
Black on gray sucks to read, please please use light font colors
It is somewhat difficult to read. Maybe a white outline could be used to allow for the dark font color and existing background while improving readability?
Or maybe a suitably coloured “box” around the text, to make sure there is enough contrast?
Flashbacks to Homestuck Doc Scratch, speaking with white text on beige background. At least he was a gracious enough host to change the site background to green when he was speaking a lot.
As thematically appropriate as it is for Paws to hide in plain sight, I’d prioritize being able to read the text.
Da! Black on gray hard on eyes!
I highlight the text as if to copy it. Left click and hold in front of Paws’ line and drag down to the next character’s text. It requires a little work but it does make it easier to read.
maaan.. just ctrl+a, select all
True, but you will have trouble telling who is talking then.
