Intermission 4 Page 2

“So, did you find anything interesting?”
“We sure did! Check out how many rat tails we got!”
“…”
“Just kidding! We got a gold hat and some fancy drink. Plus some good weapons and stuff.”
“Not bad. As always, I’ll be happy to take anything off your hands you don’t want. I’ve got more new stock in, too.”
“How do you keep getting new stuff so fast?”
“That’s a trade secret, I’m afraid.”
“So can we buy some stuff now? We finished this one so quick, so I thought we could probably go to the kobold warrens after we rest for a bit.”
“Sounds good to me, Ricki. But, ah, there’s actually something else…”
“One of my other associates has asked me to deliver a message to you.”
““Other associates?” Does that mean it’s not somebody I know?”
“Surely I don’t KNOW who you know, so I can’t actually answer that.”
“Okay, okay, I get it. Here, let me see.”
“Certainly. I am handing you the message now. What you choose to do with the information contained therein is out of my control and none of my business.”
“What a totally normal thing to say.”
“Eh, sometimes Paws is just like that.”
“Let’s see what this is all about…”
Kamau, don’t touch Lara without her permission, it’s rude.
They bonded over the dungeon.
Edit: and in my mind they have a long married couple attitude.
Remember how Kamau was hugging a dying beaver?
Kamau just acquired new skill: “Comforting Touch”
What do you guys think the symbol is of?
Vote in replies, only upvotes please (so we know how many people voted each)
It’s definitely a wolf
It looks like a fox symbol to me
I love how you phrase it so that it seems like this and your other reply (to your own comment) are different people and those who don’t bother to read the usernames will probably think they are… if I hadn’t pointed it out, anyway.
“I’m playing both sides, so I always come out on top.”
These messages were intented as a poll, so it makes sense to write a few different options
Does CombatDoctor “earn” something from asking question and giving two options (by himself)?
I think he does not (please, correct me if I’m wrong).
Fox or wolf in the shape of an upside down five-pointed star.
Lara: Who are you guys?
???: We’re Star Fox!
Ricky: Do a barrel roll.
Kamau: Nooooooooo!
I bet it TOTALLY has no relation to the other five-pointed star we’ve seen on Ricky’s close friend’s forehead.
Dragon with angry eyes, a moustache, and a small mouth.
I wonder if it has anything to do with that bite Rikki took from the Blood Rat while in that dungeon…
That got a frame all to itself. That seems important, if you ask me.
Notice how Paws doesn’t say that the message is FROM that other associate?
I wouldn’t be surprised if that was because said message is, in fact, not from that associate, but from someone else…
Two dungeons in a day? Well, we did that first with the Jail and Tavern Cellar, so really the Chapel is the odd one out.
Alas, Ricki has been corrupted by capitalism and no longer has wide eyed wonder at getting one whole coin (I2P3).
and we even get full heal in between! No night rest needed.
Sus
Is healing on exit a feature of dungeons?
Might be a feature of Lohk, really.
Guessing a couple pages to read the message, suggest some of the implications (like how this probably introduces another dungeon option), then open shopping on Friday.
Ricki: Read the fine print.
Kamau: She’s not gonna read the fine print. Read it for her.
Lara: Keep chilling, you cool.
Wet clothes (sewer water) indeed have that effect. 🙁
Wow…Ricki can read?
…why?
Sure can!
Already in https://dungeoneyes.com/how-to-play/, section “TURNS, WINNING, AND ABANDONING”: “On turn 3 she reads a note”. And in https://dungeoneyes.com/dungeon-1-turn-3/ “Ricki heads up to the next floor and takes a look through the papers on the desk. These appear to be prisoner dispositions, and they are mostly very outdated. The only recent one reads as follows:”.
But it is indeed interesting, that Ricki can read at all. I would be surprised if there were public schools for goblins, especially as there is not even enough food for young goblins to prevent a malnourished state.
Maybe Ricki assemble a laser sword she could, if the right tools and components her given?!
You know, there is a big mistake that we sometimes miss opportunities to ask characters in order to obtain valuable information.
E.g. back in the last dungeon we try to guess if a greatsword is a two-handed or one-handed weapon. But there was Kamau who is a PROFESSIONAL fighter. With Heavy Sword Proficiency: +1 Atk when wielding a greatsword…
He literally MUST know such a basic thing like how many hands a person needs to use a greatsword! Why haven’t we (Ricki) ask him about greatsword (in particular) and other weapons/armor (in common)?
The same thing about Lara (who is some sort of magician) and her (possible) knowledge about magic items. Ricki can ask her about wands (potions, rings, etc.) we haven’t used before.
Now, I think we have to ask Lara and Kamau if they know something about this “fox/wolf/etc.” sign. And I think it is better to ask before Ricki opens/reads(and maybe even takes) the scroll. If it is dangerous somehow we should know it BEFORE Ricki takes/opens/reads it.
Edit: correct mistakes and minor changes to text
And another proposition.
When we know the updated list of Paws’ shop – ask Kamau and Lara about all unknown/unmet weapons/armor/items etc. Get all information they are able to share with the party.
If that information is not enough – ask Paws if he can provide additional information too. Because he “got Ricki’s back”. Or maybe for a gold coin or two…
We do ask questions, they just aren’t answered most often. Especially when Lara came in, dozens of votes were given for her to talk about her powers. After a while, it gets tiring to repost the same things.
Yep. That is true.
But we haven’t asked if she knows something about some certain thing.
That is not prohibited by the rules, right?
So, we could ask Lara before: “do you know something about wand of mend?”
Lara: No, I don’t
OK, quite possible.
“Kamau, do you know something about a greatsword?”
Kamau: No, I don’t.
Not OK, because that is IMPOSSIBLE.
So, is there some problem to start (OK, to continue) asking (more specific) questions?
Also, there is a tweet of LNS about this page: Not suspicious at all.
What could it mean? 😉
I agree that lsn might give us hints for some items if we ask the right person and it makes sense to ask at that time. Kamau and the greatsword is a great example.
That said, we probably won’t get exact details like +3 attack or weight 2 since those are game mechanics.
Number of hands needed, yes. Effect of a wand… Maybe?
I bet the letter is from mysterious person who tried to bail out Ricki
