Ricki and Kamau sell the mugs and ale they had left over from their visit to the tavern cellar, as well as their rusty longsword, oven mitts, spare dagger, and coin of revelry. They use the coins they gain as well as the one they have to buy a longsword in better condition, as well as two sets of thieves’ tools and a couple of grave flowers.
“Nice doing business with you, Ricki.”
“Nice doing business with YOU! Thanks for the new stuff!”
“Now then, shouldn’t you be getting back to Lohk? She was asking around about you earlier.”
“Oh, crap! I gotta go! Come on, Kamau! Bye, Paws!”
“Ricki, wait up. I have no idea where we are!”
“I’ll see you two later.”
“Oh, and Kamau?”
“Hm?”
“Stay cool.”
Kamau’s face: “Did we really just pay 4 gold for 2 flowers?”
Grave flowers are consumable buffs, so I think Ricki should hold onto them since she’s both less likely to “waste” them accidentally and more likely to need them if she gets in a fight. We should also give her the torch so she can hold it for Kamau while he wields the longsword. Also also, Ricki only gets her free thieves’ tools if she can hold them, so
Ricki: Trade both thieves’ tools for the grave flowers and the torch
I hope that at least it only spends one flower per turn, rather than burning one flower when attacking undead and another flower when attacked by undead. Plus side, only one inventory slot.
That said, it looks like that’s +1 Atk/+1 Def per flower. That compounds quite well, each extra flower makes the buff stronger as well as lasting longer. I maintain we’ll probably find more in the Chapel, but having a couple beforehand will make what we find more powerful, provided they don’t get used up before we find others.
Hopefully the thieves’ tools will get us some good stuff. The locked chests didn’t really seem to have much better loot than the unlocked chests. I feel like two spare sets is overkill since we shouldn’t expect to 100% a dungeon, but it will give us flexibility to skip keys if we want.
Kamau should probably keep the thieves’ tools. Otherwise I dont know if Ricki will start with an extra one.
Ricki should open that bag and EAT THE FOOD. She is still malnourished, and with her luck, she will end up in a dungeon before eating something, the bag will occupy an item slot, she gets no free set of thieves’ tools. Thus: EAT THE FOOD. Might offer Kamau some bite, nevertheless, because we do not want him to become malnourished and because he is cool.
Time to meet Ricki’s girlfriend! (Dungeon 2 turn 16 gives high likelihood they aren’t related. Dungeon 2 turn 43 laments not being able to give her the wand.)
Looking back to Dungeon 1 Page 31, I’m thinking Paws was the one Ricki thought of who might’ve been able to pay bail but wouldn’t deal with the guards to do so.
Agreed, the “one with the money, but who is not willing to let the guards see him”, is most likely Paws.
And Lohk, from what little we know about her, matches the “would want to bail her out, but doesn’t have the money”.
I’m not sure I would call Lohk Ricki’s girlfriend, though. I mean she’s (talking about Lohk here, but Ricki is also) a confirmed female, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that she and Ricki are in a romantic relationship. It’s not impossible, either, but I’m going to wait and see what we can find out about these two, before making any hasty assumptions. 🙂
Lohk could also be Ricki’s (foster) child or something along these lines.
Also, I’m guessing that Ricki wants to share the food with Lohk, and that she hasn’t eaten it yet for that reason.
I jest, but I also predict. Ricki has called Lohk her friend before, trusts her enough to talk about Dungeon Eyes (though not enough to overrule the audience when we don’t know about her promise to keep that secret), and tells her about her adventures after they’re over. They’re almost certainly peers, likely roommates (in Intermission 1 Ricki suggested the plan to stay with the friends that harbor herself as a known thief). If anything, Ricki might be the underage one given how naive she can be.
Oh, other implication here: We still don’t know who was offering to pay bail.
