Intermission 2 Page 13

“…I’m gonna go get some water. The pork and apple will go farther if we make soup.”
“Even if you have some, Kamau.”
“You need to clean that tunic. If I can smell the blood from here, the rats can smell it from a mile away.”
“Okay.”
“I’ve certainly had to deal with enough rats already tonight to last me a lifetime.”
“…That arm of yours. You lost it recently.”
“Couple weeks ago.”
“Hmm.”
hmmm… Regen?
Topless Kamau! Not what I expected to see in this comic…
I’m happy to see Lohk being “caring” about Kamau, even in a rough-grouchy kind of way and possibly only to keep the rats away. But perhaps there’s still hope for them to become friendly. However, I don’t see any water, so how should Kamau clean his tunic? Unless Ricki brings back enough water for the soup AND him to do some washing, too.
And good for Ricki, suggesting making soup in the first place AND sharing it with Kamau.
I wonder what that shadow in the corner is, though?
While Kamau was lying down (panel 2), he seemed to have a lot more volume around the torso, and when he sits up (panel 3), there is this puddle of blackness next to him. Almost as if that was holding onto him before in some creepy kind of way. And I’m nearly sure that this isn’t supposed to be his shirt/tunic that he took off because his silhouette still shows the “sleeve” around his shoulders.
Maybe it’s supposed to symbolize some kind of “darkness” (bad attributes) that Lohk has (unjustly) assigned him because of her past experiences with humans and that slips away a small distance, once she actually stops and tries to see him for who he is, not just presume stuff about him because of other humans…
Or there really is something creepy going on in Goblintown… (I’m not so firm with all D&D creatures, so I have no idea what kind of critter this might be.)
Of course, it could also be something as simple as a blanket, but so far we hadn’t seen any blanket yet. At least that’s how I see Kamau in Intermission 2 page 12. Although… there is a lot less of his legs visible than usual. Hrm….
I think it’s a blanket based on the look of Kamau on the last page. Much more area than he would take up without one.
