Intermission 2 Page 1

Ricki and Kamau make their way up the stairs, Kamau going slowly due to his injury. By the time they make it to the top, a large crowd of bruised and hungover drunks have started to file out around them. Hopefully the crowd will serve as ample cover in case there are more guards in the area.
The pair doesn’t have to go far before they come across the man that sent them down into the dungeon in the first place.
He doesn’t look happy.
“Off-duty guard, eh?”
Give us our gold for rat tails and our promised food old man. We had a deal. Lol
He should be grateful we solved his ale issue, so I doubt he will turn is in.
That dungeon basement of yours sure does look like a fire hazard and OSHA violation.
What, does it look like Kamau’s currently on shift?
Ask us no questions, we’ll tell you no lies.
Did we get the job done, or did we get the job done? Then what does it matter what we do for a living the rest of the time? We did you a favour, now it is your turn. 😛
They both just came back out a dungeon a guard you probably sent in after them didn’t come out of. Bartender, you’re extremely lucky these two are decent sorts given your first words were the opposite of what you should have done, which was playing innocent about basically trying to get them killed for doing a low paying job for you that nobody else wanted that was going to put you out of business.
Regarding the small hole I found interesting, a missing rat, and having “Pets” in general. Since Kamau’s REMORSE says “ally” – does a pet dying also trigger this? (I suppose the rat’s cheee-revival would not count)
Pets have HP. I could see it counting, Remorse is about anyone other than Kamau getting hurt.
This is an interesting point of balance. I’m reminded of the crutch character you get at the start of each Fire Emblem game, typically a knight with massive stats. They end up having terrible growth, gaining very little XP and ending up left behind by other units. Kamau is in a similar position, he’s very powerful but the more allies we get the less freedom he has to act if the rest of the team is facing danger. Just in this last dungeon with Ricki Malnourished, she still had more HP than Kamau’s capacity for Remorse.
Well, Kamau is a guard, and he is not on-duty. OK, he was put into prison for treason and to be executed, but nobody asked about that. Now do you want to get the delicious rat tails for the soup, or do you want cheez running out of your tap, dire rats in the tap room, and the public to know that you house thugs in your basement (and did allow drunks to wander downstairs and to be killed there)? Maybe some undead skeletons in the tap room for atmosphere, too? Be reasonable, man!
Go all Ghostbusters on him.
Hotel Manager: Five thousand dollars? I had no idea it’d be so much. I won’t pay it.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Well, that’s all right. We can just put it right back in there. Thank you.
Dr. Raymond Stantz: We certainly can, Dr. Venkman.
[Ray turns back toward the ballroom]
Hotel Manager: [stopping Ray] No, no, NO! All right. Anything.
I’m calling this bluff, he is mad at something silly and gonna be happy next page.
