Dungeon 9 Turn 25
————
The party returns to the room with many sealed doors. Being faster than everyone else, Ricki runs ahead and quickly takes out the lone zombie with help from her mushroom pet. Her infection progresses by 1 step as a result.
Suddenly, an arrow thunks into the mushroom’s face, courtesy of Coccyx. It takes 2 damage.
“Hey! What do you think you’re doing?!”
“BWA HA HA HA greatest archer the world has ever known!!”
It seems they’ve figured out, at long last, that they can’t hurt most of party and have begun to look for opportunities to to deal damage however they can.
Plan: Ghast
Botanya: Pull the lever.
Everyone move left
Kamau: Interpose on Ghast
Ricki and Lara: Attack Ghast
Pets: Attack Skeledog.
This plan is for skipping rats in favor of more turns in the boss room later. If killing the ghast unlocks the chest, it will take us 5 turns to loot puzzle chest and make our way back to boss room. We should arrive close to turn 29. Wanting to avoid turn 40 roamers, this will give us 10 turns to bypass traps, kill 2 zombies, loot treasure room, and kill boss.
My “problem” with this is the “if”.
If the claymore ghast (the one we can see) is indeed the last one in this dungeon, then your plan works as advertised. However, if there is a ghast in the tomb behind the plague rats, I don’t even wanna know how many more turns it would take to get back there (depending on how many times per turn we could operate the lever, which could be only 1 or up to 4 – 4 characters, 4 actions used for pulling the lever again after it snaps back into original position).
So choosing this plan might be choosing to forgoe the puzzle chest altogether, which is why I prefer the “rats first” plan.
At that point we’d just give up on puzzle chest. Same if there is a ghast in the hanging pots room tomb
I wonder how Coccyx reacts if we destroy some of the skeletons. He did say you have to be dead to be here, so if we threaten to destroy all the dead things, maybe he’ll react in some way?
Lsn was clear we must “find something”. Apparently we haven’t, yet
If I had to guess, I’d say whatever is the “something”, it’s worth searching in the dangling pots (Lara could shoot the rope) or past the undead owlbear corridor.
I would say the pots are a viable target to check out. But the chest past the barriers is likely a trap. In the sense that it may even contain something very good, but it will leave us unprotected against the Guard if the twist is the Guard using the other entrance after we kill the necromancer.
Plan: Rats
Everyone move left
Ricki and Lara: Attack Rats 1 and 2
Kamau: Attack Rats 3-5
Botanya: Stay close to rats to debuff. Open tomb. Mulch a dead rat
This plan is for killing rats before killing Ghast next. Killing rats will get us a Mulch and whatevers in the tomb.
Clearing the rats and whatever spawns will take us at least 3 turns (including the downtime turn of just pulling the lever). If killing the Ghast unlocks the chest, it will take us 5 turns to loot puzzle chest and make our way back to boss room. We should arrive close to turn 32 and We’d encounter the roaming 3 zombies in the pot hanging room. Wanting to avoid turn 40 roamers, this will give us 7 turns to bypass traps, kill 2 zombies, loot treasure room, and kill boss.
I consider this plan pushing our luck for time.
You forgot the mulch. It can be done alongside piping. If all the rats die now, no one to mulch next turn
fixed
So this plan kills Ricki’s shroom and causes Botanya to take 1 damage from the explosion. I’d just hold the pets back. We leave only 1 Rat behind that way, which will be a non-factor if the tomb has anything problematic.
Oh shoot! That’s a typo from my copy paste. Pets were not meant to attack at all. Fixed now. Sorry!
We might use that for some inventory management by those people, who do not pull the lever.
Or…. We can have everyone yelling: Pull the lever, Kamau!
On the bright side, we now know Cox does 3 damage.
Which is odd. Kamau said he does more than a standard bow. Anti breather skill?
If he targeting pets and kamau doesn’t interpose this turn the mushroom will die?
No. (unless the mushroom were to attack that turn)
