Dungeon 9 Turn 2
————
Kamau interposes the group of reinforced skeletons, allowing Ricki and Lara to each smash one with their powerful weapons and attack rings. The new flytrap rips the head off a third while the mushrooms hurl its body over the ledge. Only one skeleton remains. Kamau takes no damage
Botanya picks up the three arrows on the same level, then descends to the next room, and the skeleton archer follows.
Botanya doesn’t know what’s in this room because she can’t see anything. All she knows is that an arrow thunks into her shield a second after arriving.
That white eyed zombie… You think it’s blind and attracted to noise? Why else would there be jars to throw around?
Zelda rules : cause smashing pots is fucking fun.
On the bright side, looks like Cox can’t follow us unless he wants to leap off a ledge.
EDIT: Oops, didn’t notice the door up top. I guess he can probably figure something out.
Cox can go right from the top-most level and also from his current level and the lower-most level also has a connection to/from the right side.
It’s a shame mushrooms aren’t also immune to zombie infection, or everyone would be immune as a result of Spored ability. It would be extremely funny if we just used Web Wall to reach Coccyx immediately. Imagine if the area he’s at is the end and we just skipped to the end.
As a matter of fact, I’m willing to bet this is the case. LSN probably designed this dungeon with the express intent of making it tempting for us to use Lara’s power. We’ll probably be in a desperate situation where the zombies are closing in and there are characters who are nearly zombies and if we want to get out fast we’ll need to jump from beginning to end, which will require Web Wall. If we get to Coccyx earlier, not only can we neutralize him immediately, but we’ll have an alternative escape route potentially. Not saying this is the best course of action since who knows what the dungeon actually holds or how it’s laid out, but it’s food for thought!
I wonder if this is a Schrodinger’s dungeon, where if we decide to use Web Wall early, it’ll turn out that it was actually easy to reach Coccyx without using it, and if we don’t use it, suddenly we’ll need it at the end. Normally, the best thing to do would be to explore as much of the dungeon as possible as fast as possible, but given the Infected drawback and the low light, that’s not really a great option and could get us killed. Very clever dungeon idea.
If by Schrodinger’s dungeon, you mean that LSN will decide what the dungeon layout is based on our choices:
I trust him enough to believe he won’t do that. Changing stuff behind the DM screen isn’t bad DMing (and is sometimes very good DMing), but in a game like this it feels a little too dishonest.
Kamau : head down a level and interpose for the room.
Ricki : head down take out the ghoul.
Lara: go down a level and take out a skellie.
Mushroom goons and fly trap: go down a level and take out the second skellie on the first floor.
Botanya : you can’t see but use your armors echolocation to identify the bats your sense across from you, then stumble around in the dark past the battle you can’t see around you and move left to check out the next room.
(So I think most of the above is pretty locked except Botanya. She can go down and pull the lever but that likely lifts the great slab and blocks the way left while also maybe aggroing the second ghoul. Could be nice to have her go down and right to see the room cocky is likely going to move over to or smash a pot to see what’s up but again… Aggro the ghoul. I don’t THINK it’ll chase us.)
(I was gonna have ricki bat clean up up stairs but there’s a CHANCE cocyx might go up and pop and arrow at her. Reinforced skellie likely does 2, and the bow plus 1 would be safe. But 2 would give her some damage and it’s a little early to spend remorse right now)
Basically we need to get more Intel and we can clear this top section pretty safely since we’re likely going to move that slab up and down to keep zombies from flooding in from either the left or right.
Not saying no to this, but pointing out this is 1/5 of Kamau’s infection points
It’s a ghoul, not a zombie – so we should be fine. Paralyzation is a possible problem, but we gotta get past this group regardless.
I think Botanya and the flytrap should instead start working on the zombie. A single one is probably do-able. Do flytraps depend on light?
She can always come back next turn. More Intel will help our planning long term
The fly trap is attached to Kamau not Botanya because we put Golly on Botanya (presumably for trap disarming reasons)
LSN: By “taking out the ghoul”, this post means taking out the ghoul that is grouped with the skeletons, not whatever that lone monster downstairs is.
Yes for clarity, since there is concern – we’re having the gang all attack the group on the top level of the second room. So ricki on the ghoul and the others on the skellies in room 2.
There is a pot in front of Coccyx. I bet he kicks it down if anyone passes by and its full of explosives. Could lara blow it up with her spell?
Either that or it will wake up the bats. I think if we broke it, it would still wake them up though…
By having the mushrooms throw the skeleton body down we may have woken up the bats already?
Did we learn what Botanya does to the undead by being hungry? How are we going to find out?
Presumably it’s referring to her “mulch” ability/generic flavor of plants feeding off of organic material as it decays.
