Dungeon 6 Turn 46
————
Lara descends to the entrance and tries entering 101116 as the safe combination. This doesn’t work, and the painting once again animates and reduces her maximum HP by 1. The bat also attacks but it deals no damage.
Ricki (after leaving behind her rope) and Macadamia return to the kitchen, pick up the rabbit paw off the floor, and use it. In a puff of smoke, Paws immediately appears with his pack full of goods to sell.
โHello there, Ricki. Mac. Need to buy something?โ
โActually, our problem is that we’ve got too MUCH stuff, and we want to sell it.โ
โSure, sure, we can do that. But since we’re outside of my usual service area (which is everywhere that isn’t a dungeon), there’s going to be a bit of a fee on most transactions.โ
โWhen you sell something to me, I’m only going to pay half of what I normally would. That’s one quarter of the buy price. Sorry, kid, but I gotta cover my own costs, you know.โ
โOf course, if you have any actual treasure, I’ll still buy that at full value.โ
โGot it. Okay, I wanna get rid of this and this, and oooh, let me buy some of those…โ
โI want to sell this sword. I’ve done terrible, terrible things with it.โ
Ricki sells the suit she just found, as well as her heavy pick, for a total of 22 coins. She then buys two sets of thieves’ tools and a magic lens, leaving her with 2 coins in change, which she deposits in the nearby purse (along with the 3 coins Lohk put in there a second ago, for a total of 17).
Macadamia sells his longsword for just 1 coin. He also wants to sell a bunch of stuff that’s lying around on the floor, but it seems Paws demands the basic decency of having merchandise handed to him rather than being mad to pick it up himself. Mac will have to use an action to pick stuff up, then another action to sell some or all of it.
Paws takes his rabbit foot back and offers it for sale again at a markup. As a reminder, here’s what else he’s selling for the next four turns:
Arrow โ 2
Bolt โ 1
Boots โ 4

Buckler โ 8

After dropping her shield and magic ring, Lohk returns to the cellar. Ricki joins her a moment later.
โWe asked Paws if he could teleport you out of here when he leaves, but he said he can’t.โ
โWho said I want to leave? Dungeon’s not done yet, right?โ
โHrrrngh.โ
Ricki notices one of the skulls on the door going dark. Only three small skulls remain lit.
Since turn 41 (last time we saw the tomb door), we killed a centipede, a kidney pincher, and a plague rat, and probably the blue dog finished off the second plague rat just now. So I have to assume that the blue dog does NOT correspond to a skull. Unfortunately, with those red eyes I don’t think it’s our friend eitherโฆ
The dog is in a room with what appears to be a comfy chair, next to the master bedroom, and it attacked the plague rats, who are intruders in this house as much as we are. If I had to guess, I’d say the dog belonged to the knight and remained in his master’s favorite place in the house when said master died.
He’s just waiting for his owner to come back.
>So I have to assume that the blue dog does NOT correspond to a skull.
Looks like it doesn’t.
But what is the color of Lara’s eyes? I think the same red.
Four turns full of trading, repeatable if we can afford to toss out another 20gp.
That sounds way more useful than I thought, even with the 1/4th selling price.
Though with our all-over-the-floor plan, it will now burn some turns to handle all of that, if we want to. Maybe Lohk could do the cleaning since she’s out of combat (sorry gran’ma xD).
I wonder about the skulls. One out, so the rat died, that’s sure. But, what does the blue dog account as? Considering there are two rats and one bat left.. Maybe it’s really friendly and not to be killed, and we were able to attack it because it was controlled?
Might also be there was one extra in case me managed to permanently adopt a wolfspider (or not let it die) or even the big dog
Oh, you’re right! We totally could go with idea, there’s no limit for capturing spiders, we could have more than one if only we wished to burn more corruption, and having one spider alive at this point of time would actually be quite possible. I bet you’ve just nailed it!
Does anyone from the Discord know LSN’s birthday? (Should always try that first)
and what about rats-locks-ladders?
Maybe that was his favorite birthday game.
You’ve just made my day ๐
We really need the door open before T50. Honestly this is Ricki’s Mother, lets not kill our Dungeon Mom. That’s all I care about. Besides its always Party Members before Pride, Prizes, Plans, or Pets.
Yeah I’m really not keen on a 25% chance of Dungeon Mom being gone in 4 turns.
Her mom dying because Ricki insisted on going into dungeon, after repeatably warning us not to, would make delisious trauma.
Just saying.
It would certainly prove her point that Dungeons are too dangerous. Or at least that Ricki isn’t treating the danger with enough due respect. Lohk is probably purposefully calling the ghost to her…..
INFACT I BET SHE PLANNED THIS ENTIRE THING!
She is probably dying of some illness and is using this Dungeon to give Ricki a home and using her own “reckless” death to traumatize Ricki into staying put!
…and that’s why PM always comes before PP in every self-respecting dictionary!
Honestly, this could have been avoided if we didn’t waste our time running back and forth. Like how often we engaged enemies and left them behind only to return to them later, instead of killing them outright, so it’s another waste of time. Even now we have to run to the last two mices and kill them to open the tomb.
Seems like the remaining skulls are: the two mice left in the crawl-to-it space, and the bat. We don’t have too many turns before the max-HP-loss kills someone, or makes a boss fight prohibitively difficult.
Everyone: If needed, quaffing/eat food/drink to restore to current-max-HP, aiming for a boss fight, then do the following:
Mac: pick up stuff so we have a full inventory again, and go to the basement to witness the door opening from the non-skull side (i.e., that observation room above…).
Ricki & Lohk: After figuring out whatever inventory shennenigans the other comments tell you, go kill the two mice.
Lara: after getting a full inventory of whatever the comment thread deems needful, kill the last bat. If you’re able after that, go join mac.
Well, re ‘prohibitively difficult’, we actually have no other choice, we can’t abandon this one at will, so as prohibitive as it gets, we still have to push on.
This comment calls for impossible actions. Neither Ricki nor Lohk can reach the rats this turn.
fair enough, TNIM. idk how to evaluate what our movement is…
https://dungeoneyes.com/characters/
tells what the movement (“Mov”) of each character is. (Well, when riding daisy, the rider uses Daisy’s movement.)
bit.ly/dungeon-eyes-map gives an overview of the layout.
Moving from one room to another is one movement, moving through a rat hole is a movement even if inside one room.
Lohk: Go to the entryway and attack the bat with Daisy.
Daisy: Attack bat.
Ricki: Go upstairs and drop your helmet so Macadamia can equip it later. Worse comes to worse you pick it back up later when you go grab the wooden stake. Return to the basement and lockpick the lower right chest.
Macadamia: Drop your scroll of enchantment in case we want Lara to hold it instead. Worse comes to worse you grab it back when you pick up items later. Go to the basement and through the rat hole to break the last dog skeleton.
Lara: Enter the kitchen. Drink the healing potion there.
Lara: kill bat, and then move to Paw room.
Lohk: go up to rat room and kill one rat
Ricki go downstairs and unlock the left most chest
Max: I donโt really care or know what you should do lol
Lohk get egg.
Mac: drop grave flower and stake, pick up the purse and scroll
Lara: web the knight if heโs up
Ricki: lens the knight
