Dungeon 6 Turn 13
————
Ricki and Lohk return to the kitchen after Ricki picks up the lens and thieves’ tools from the basement. Lohk quickly crawls under the table to use her Heal spell on Lara while she fights. Lara engages one of the two ladybaatles, dealing only minor damage as their perfectly hemispherical shells provide excellent Def. The second ladybaatle is hurled by the baatle at the backline, dealing 2 damage to Lohk with their combined attack. Those shells are also pretty aerodynamic when they curl up into a ball!
Macadamia returns to the library and uses the master bedroom key to unlock one of the doors, then heads to the right. He finds himself in a new room, likely the final unexplored room of the dungeon. A big dog immediately starts barking at him! He seems to have alerted it with his mere presence, which means it will probably start attacking anyone who enters here from now on.
Gotta commit.
Lara: Switch to your Pick and attack the baatle.
Ricki: Go upstairs, crawling under the table to avoid the flies as always, and then engage baatle with Lara.
Lohk: Attack the ladybaatle Lara was attacking last turn.
Macadamia: Go left and loot the middle bookcase on the bottom floor. If you can pick up the enchantment scroll we left there at the same time, do so.
I’m not agree, I offer to concentrate out attacks on the rear enemy, it can attack Lock and it seems dangerous. Further, Ricky is really strong now, she should join Macadamia and fight at second front)
Actually, every enemy can attack Lohk in the back row. There are no rules against walking and passing by enemies. Enemies cannot stop us from passing by, and we cannot stop them from passing by. Unless they have some special ability, or unless there’s some environmental/situational reason (i.e. we have to open the door) and they have the brains and means to interrupt our action (like: enemy sitting on a chest, preventing that chest from being opened, even having no lock).
Kamau’s ability wasn’t stopping enemies from walking past him and attacking people located behind Kamau. Kamau’s ability was about preventing enemies from attacking other team mates. Not a word about preventing movement.
In our situtation, with no such skills on Lara, any enemy can just walk past Lara and attack whoever he wants. Of course, passing by Lara and ignoring her, will earn Lara a free opportunity attack, but that’s just one attack on the passers-by, and if it does not kill them, they will attack the back row with no problems.
Hey, it’s a
mind flayerkidney pincher! And looks like he has mind control abilities, judging the enemies around him have the same eye color as his own. Maybe he can mind control our members as well, so we should be cautious. Here’s the link to the start of the <strike>kidney pincher</strike> mummy storyline: https://willsaveworldforgold.com/comic/2016-09-14/ That’s a paragon-tier monster and it’s got the weird mutant bats. It will be weak to fire, naturally. Where’s a sunhead when you need one?
I think we have no torches. I wonder can we make one, light it up at stove, and carry all the way here? Probably not.
Lohk still has one fireball though.
But – mind the squirrels. It’s not WSWfG. We should lens it.
We also could control the scorpion with Lara.
BTW. Large blue rabig dog. Blue. Ya’ll see what happens when you try to lightning-enchant a doggo? xD
There is a torch in the very room where Macadamia is (same floor, to the right). – This whole room (all 4 floors) is considered lit by it, i.e. no night eyes!
Telepathic laughter! Telepathic laughter!
I don’t see any traps in the new room (other than the carmouflaged plague rats), so that’s good, I guess?
We also got confirmation that this is the last room of the dungeon. That is great.
I wonder what that creature with the crabface is.
Lohk’s down to 3 HP that’s less than stellar. It would be so painful to have her die, after surviving “out there” all this time on her own. then we get to steer her and she immediately kicks it. I don’t want to get that “achievement”.
Another thing to notice: if the creatures hiding under the beds all were to count as “big skulls”, we got more than enough available to get the remaining 4 skull “unlit”. Probably the same will be true for the other kinds of skulls.
(I counted 13 bats – not counting the battle master’s pet, 5 rats, 2 plague rats, 8 skeletons + 1 dogskeleton – not counting the inactive ones, 1 owl bear, one giant bat, one baatle, 2 ladybattles, one black dog, a scorpion and that crabfaced creature. And 4 unknown creatures hiding under the beds.)
I’m guessing the owlbear and the giant bat will each count as big skulls. And possibly the black dog. too.
By the way, in order to get Lara to the tower room, we have to get her past the 4 skeleton and a dogskeleton group. With the others, we might be able to go through the rat tunnels, instead, depending on how they connect. Good thing the pets are on “small” characters (if we want to go after the battle challenge).
Oh and there doesn’t seem to be a “?” chest this dungeon.
Actually, the dog is very-dark blue. Pretty odd if you asked me. I hope it’s not magical.
And no “?” chest.. yeah.. does it mean we stop scattering the bones? Hmm..
I checked the map. What if the library holes actually connect horizontally to the bedroom, instead vertically?
It would create an interesting change.. I can’t work out the ‘logical’ connection. It doesnt make much sense in for them horizontally (owlbear connected to mindflayer, going in a circle), but then, it doesn’t make much sense vertically either (kill mindflayer and darkblue dog, and now small people can access the tower, bypassing the skeleton group below… but tall people still have to go through skeletons and the scorpion). Yet again the dungeons have their odd ways.
Ricki: Crawl under the Table and Attack the Ladybaatle Lara was attacking.
Lara: Bring out the big guns. Smash the same Ladybaatle you attacked before with the Giant Pick!
Maca: Go back a room to not get murdered and search some more bookshelfs. Pick up the Enchantment Scroll if you can do that too.
Lohk: Cast Ray of Frost in the Manly Baatle’s face for throwing stuff at you!
Pets: Attack the Thrown Ladybaatle like a ball.
Explanation: Lohk attacking the big guy is because I’m guessing the Baattles will attack whoever’s attacking them. That way, no one gets killed by all 3 ganging up on them. Also, I’m hoping Bugs are weak to Ice. If not and it deals no damage, it’s not like Lohk bashing the bugger with her stick would do any damage either.
Other Notes: The Non-Lady Baatle is the one that worries me the most because of the combo attack. It could’ve just been a silly way to show them both attacking, but what if it means the Ladybaatles have less than 4 Attack?
This is the kind of situation where the Wand of Deathtouch would be useful. We could’ve had someone try to distract a Baatle and deal chip damage through their Defense without having to gang up, which lets everyone else gang up on something else!
Last turn they attacked Lhok who was just healing Lara, not even attacking. I think getting Lhok out would be best (she doesn’t contribute much damage anyway)
Considering that the lady-baatle is much like a ball when curled, and that can’t attack, would it be a good idea to have Daisy play with this ball? Maybe the bug will not un-curl when it is in constant movement.
The key is: Daisy doesn’t attack it, and doesn’t risk getting hurt. She just plays with it like a ball (i.e. catches it midair and starts rolling), and the bug gets confused and skips a turn.
Guys, “?” chest may be on the bottom of the boss room) We have really many dog skeletons and our time limit is not hard – I see a mean to continue this case)
I don’t see there any puzzle chests
Dear author, I really miss the moment when death breathed in our back( I don’t hate you, just hint that maybe it’s the time to increase difficulty? Our heroes is really powerful now, we no more see the counter displaying the number of turns to our death… I hope that the time will come when we will must to work in Ardon’s style to survive)))
Interesting that you bring this up on the turn in which Macadamia is already dead (unless we get a free retreat or the plague rats don’t join the attack) and Lohk is at risk. Of course, if every enemy in the group attacks the right person then they die.
Death isn’t interesting, it’s the end of the story and we all go home. Threat of death is what makes this a game where there are right and wrong choices. I like there being lots of not-wrong choices with different outcomes, where we can do anything but not everything.
Macadamia should be fine. The text was that they’d attack anyone who entered after this.
Mac: move left and search bookcase.
Lhok: move under table, left entryway, then to library. Loot another bookcase.
Lara, attack baatle with pickaxe.
Ricki: join Lara, attack baatle
Wolfspider, do not attack
An option to clear start clearing bugs and get lhok to safety. They are somewhat smart so I don’t want lhok to stick around.
Lara: Attack same injured Ladybaatle with the pick.
Ricki: Crawl up under the table and attack same injured Ladybaatle with the Oxidicer.
Lohk: Retreat to the ladder and cast Ray of Frost on same injured Ladybaatle.
Macadamia: Head left and loot the middle bottom bookcase (and grab enchantment scroll if you can). End turn in the entry room.
Need to reduce number of enemies. This is hopefully overkill. As long as enemies can target the same person, they can deal 8 damage, and I’m not confident we can wipe out the baatle in one turn. Lohk can retreat and heal next turn even if attacked as long as she doesn’t take lethal damage this turn.
I don’t think healing works on Lohk herself. It says nearby ally.
Lara: Attack baatle with the pick.
Ricki: Crawl up under the table and attack baatle with the Oxidicer. Also send Wolf Spider to attack same target.
Lohk: Retreat to the ladder and cast Ray of Frost on baatle.
Macadamia: Head left and loot the middle bottom bookcase (and grab enchantment scroll if you can). End turn in the entry room.
Same as above but throwing all offense at the baatle in hopes of cutting off combos at the root. If they kill the wolf spider, that’s an attack not spent on one of ours.
The only thing that worries me about this is that both ladybaatles will be unoccupied and free to attack whomever. I feel like the baatle probably can’t use a throw if we engage it in melee, but if we’re wrong, it could easily throw the adjacent ladybaatle and the other ladybaatle could attack Lohk. I still upvoted it, and feel like it’s our safest option out of all the bad ones. The only other idea I had was trying to use Mom sense to move Lohk out of danger basically instantly. I’m assuming that would let her avoid any attacks that would otherwise be directed her way.
