Dungeon 5 Turn 3

————

Ricki walks up to the ringsmif and engages him in conversation.

“Hi! My name’s Ricki!”

“And mine is Macadamia. Pleased to meet you!”

“Can you tell me what a ringsmif does?”

“Certainly! Ringsmiffing is an ancient practice that some kobolds are able to master. It allows us to consume certain items to imbue their power into an ordinary ring, thereby turning it into a MAGIC ring!”

“That sounds super useful! Me and my friends have some rings, can you smif them for us?”

“Well… unfortunately no, I can’t. It’s illegal for me to provide my services to just anyone, I’m afraid. You’d need permission from the Imperial Guard or the Emperor himself.”

“Oh, I see. Well then… do you need any help? We’re already running errands for the kobold family near the entrance.”

“Well actually… one of my magical rings was stolen recently. One of the gangs that hide out in this dungeon must have taken it while I wasn’t looking. I could get in big trouble if the Guard finds out!”

“Oh no!”

“If you could get it back for me, I’d be very grateful! Like I said, I’m not able to smif a ring for you in return, but I’m sure I could find a way to pay you back!”

“We’ll see what we can do, Macadamia!”

“Great! The ring I lost is copper with a blue stone. Good luck!”

Meanwhile, Lara speaks with the young kobold gazing forlornly at the ladder leading up.

“Hey, kid. Something wrong?”

“A bad guy stole my dolly!”

“Oh, that sucks. Want me to beat him up for you!”

“Mom says fighting is bad…”

“Want me to beat him up and not tell your mom?”

“Sure!”

“Cool. You know what this guy looks like?”

“He was big and scary! Like you but not pretty.”

“You know, I was gonna charge for this, but I just decided to help you out for free.”

“Yay!”

Kamau arrives from the entrance room.
