Dungeon 3 Turn 4
————
Kamau gets the sudden sense that Ricki has gotten herself into trouble, so he quickly returns to the entrance room on his way to help out.
Ricki tensely waits in place for Kamau. The skeletal dogs seem to ignore her, at least for the moment.
Well I guess this is fine, as long as Ricki isn’t getting attacked
THEYCANSMELLYOURFEARKamau: Climb the ladder to the top, then start fighting that sunhead.
Ricki: Wait to hear the sound of Kamau rescuing you, then go left but don’t join the fight right away.
Same, but Ricki: Use your action to head down the ladder to the entrance room.
She can move up to rejoin next turn, or be in position to meet up from safety.
Agreed that Intercede is overkill here.
Isn’t going back down the ladder 1 turn too soon? I think Kamau can’t run up and start a fight at the same moment, since he’s in a different room, so the sunhead will have an opportunity to attack Ricky again, and since Ricky would be just running, she’d probably be hit just like before.
IMHO if we want to get Ricky out of the dogs’ room, I’d suggest Ricky go a step left back into previous room, and immediately duck&cover behind the shield as much as possible. She wouldn’t get into ranged combat by attacking, but by preparing for defending against it, as opposed to not just merrily walking/running around.. but I’m not an expert here re combat mechanics. Such an attempt may be very well summed up by our DM with “Nice idea, but shield was cracked and some of the light passed through, 1 dmg for Ricky” 🙂
Also:
Ricki: AVOID THE GLASS (if you get as far as the ladder).
