Dungeon 3 Turn 16
————
Ricki restores the lever to its original position, which causes the chandelier to raise itself again. She then leaves this little chamber to return to the entrance room, noting as she goes that no new skeletons appear this turn.
Kamau continues to fight the skeletons, switching quickly to his leather armour so as to protect it from possible damage before the bigger fight ahead. He shatters one of the skeletons easily and takes no damage.
Ricki appears on the floor above, but can’t move any closer this turn.
Ricki: move down stairs, watch out for glass. Drop flowers, take torch from Kamau. Hold light for Kamau with offhand and attack weakest skeleton with dagger.
Kamau: switch to sword and attack least damaged skeleton.
I hope we can take out both this turn.
If Kamau takes the flowers he can probably rush the ghoul pope with the extra defense next turn. Not sure if using holy water will be needed or if it takes an action to apply…
If we get attacked by a skeleton on the way to the pope, any flowers we’re carrying go poof. So it might be best to leave them on the floor until we’ve cleared out all the skeletons, depending on how long that takes and whether the pope has a ranged attack (likely).
Right!!! Really good catch, Ricki should drop her flowers before joining it to the fight with Kamau
And before attacking the pope, Kamau might consider switching back into the “Sun guy armor” again.
“Can be used on a weapon as part of an attack to cause it to shed light and deal +2 holy damage for 5 turns.”
Holy water doesn’t take an extra action.
Side note, this means the Coin of Revelry basically turns alcohol into holy water.
Ricki should go down and join in with Kamau. Can he also get a glance at the dagger, see if it’s any stronger than regular dagger. Kamau keep at it buddy.
And yeah, Ricki should watch out for the glass by the top floor door
… and if the dagger is “better”/stronger …, than take that dagger instead of Ricki’s current one, of course.
Pretty sure that it’s balanced as a throwing dagger, and will deal 2 damage at range. It killed the bat while it was roosting, which is notable because they have 1 defense.
Well, that was easier than I thought. It’d be practical to go for the rat treasure room if we want. That suggests the winch is more connected to the chimney above it, possibly for bell ringing.
I don’t see a safe way for Ricki to help in the chandelier room. I say next turn Kamau armours up, takes flowers, then rushes the Ghoul Pope (taking attacks from skeletons when moving by) and swings with longsword. I don’t know how much HP a boss might have, so going for holy water may or may not be excessive, but I don’t think we’re going to send Ricki off on her own this dungeon so going all-in on consumables seems best.
iirc, you wrote in your summary of the dungeon 2 “debriefing” talk with LSN that the “rat king” did have 10 HP. And I vaguely remember something about the ALEemental being even stronger/more sturdy than that.

I dunno if the ghoul pope is going to be a “boss” enemy, but I daresay he’s not a “regular cannon fodder enemy” (like rats, dire rats and skeletons are), either.
Good catch. Yeah, if we’re looking at something in the ballpark of 10 HP and 3 defense, then going from 5 attack to 7 makes a big difference. If it’s weaker than that and we one-shot, then Kamau has another four turns of super sword to go through on the right; it’d be a bit of a waste to use it on regular skeletons since he can one-shot those on his own.
Not sure what to have Ricki do while Kamau is fighting. Probably send her back up to be ready at the lever in case of trouble, she could wait for Kamau to retreat and drop the chandelier again.
I notice that the chandelier didn’t disturb the bats when it dropped. We might want to figure out a way to get through before go into the next room, unless we want to get swarmed by tons of bats.
Maybe if we have Kamau rush across before they have a chance to engage, then have Ricki drop the chandelier, he can ride the chandelier up and leave the bats to deal with the Pope Ghoul?
Ricki: Ask Kamau about what a Ghoul Pope might do, and also let him know the plan is to fight one very soon.
Kamau should drink the potion of healing, and focus on taking out the skeletons before the ghoul joins in to lower the amount of damage the fight deals as a whole
