Dungeon 2 Turn 48
————
Ricki tosses her other dagger at the lone remaining rat, killing it. Ricki then walks over and picks both daggers back up. She leaves the two rat rails that dropped where they are for now.
After tanking the hit from the rat, Kamau leaps the gap in the floor and swipes at the snale. If it was any farther he’d have trouble, but the other platform is just close enough to reach. The snale attacks him back, but Kamau tanks that, too.
Kamau: Finish off the snale, swap any dropped loot for empty mugs, then jump back over and grab the rat tails, and put down an empty mug before taking the torch.
Ricki: Flip the lever, then down the ladder, care for glass, over to the right, then into the wall hole.
I addition to the above:
Ricki: wait until the snale is dead before crossing the area that it seemed to have been guarding.
I just want to say that if we wanted cheez in mugs (both to find out what stats it might give as well as to possibly distract (dire) rats with it), then we should not turn the thug-switch back on yet, because that will add ale back into the mix.
EDIT: We could, however, try to find out if the thugs are willing to trade the coin of revelry for the crossbow, if we take the coin with Ricki.
Yes, be very careful here. Kamau will kill the snale on the next hit, but he’s buzzed by its attack at the moment, so he has a 20% miss chance. He’s also in the snale’s face so he probably doesn’t need an Intercede to draw aggro, but he can’t be in the way of the hole in the floor.
I also still don’t trust the thugs. Sending Ricki over to them alone, poorly defended, and presenting treasure feels to me like a reason for them to kill a goblin and take loot, not a reason to trade their weapon. Assume the thugs have 4 damage at least (2 from creature with dagger, 2+ from crossbow which is designed as a ranged weapon), unless the crossbow is a bluff since they have no bolts.
I’d be a little sad to never see what a mug of cheez is like, but never needing to backtrack here to flip the lever has its benefits.
Good point about the thugs possibly being hostile, I mean they did say their companions would “look like kick your ass” before. so perhaps it would be better to postpone the trip to the thugs anyways, at least until we can get Ricki the armour back on again. It would also give us a chance to get some cheez in a mug. ^^
I would suggest something slightly different: Toss the oven mitts over the hole in the floor, take up the loot, jump over the hole in the floor, collect the rat tails (they do stack with those in your inventory), swap the oven mitts for an empty glass. That way, we have an empty glass on “this” side of the hole, and another one on the floor below (easier to fetch them when/if needed).
Kam: Kill the Snale.
Ricki: Throw a dagger at the snale
Kamau: Kill the snale. Once it dies, trade an empty mug for its cheap ale drop, then jump back and pick up rat tails.
Ricki: Flip the valve. Keep the room lit for Kamau’s fight, then head up the ladder.
If we want to try the cheez-mugs, we might want to drop some other item(s) here, close the grate (we have the keys!), grab the mug from here and/or from the floor below, and head upstairs to the tap.
