Kamau tries using both his empty mug and mug of ale on the glass chest, but neither seems to cause any sort of reaction. It’s possible whatever needs to be done to open this thing needs to be done in a completely different room.
Ricki pulls the lever on the pipe, then leaves the rat tunnel. She still takes no damage.
Ricki and Kamau reunite in the room to the left, and both their alcohol-based Def bonuses wear off at the same time. Ricki picks up the empty mug and dagger from the ground since she has room in her inventory now.
I do not know how we can get to that broom, it seems extremely likely that Ricki will take too much damage to sneak past all those rats
I think we might need to give up on it, yeah. Too much bad luck with armor.
Ricki: Grit, trade the armor for the rusty sword, go up the ladder, carefully walk past the glass, go up the other ladder, then try to open the locked door with the keys
Kamau: Put on the armor, go up the ladder, then if the door unlocks, go beat up some rats.
Kamau doesn’t really need the armor to handle the rats, but I figure if we have him take out the skeletons/drunks on the way back to the beginning of the dungeon (to access the first hole in the wall) we’re gonna have him put it on anyway.
He does need the armor. Two small rats plus a dire rat is 4 damage.
Don’t forget about the snale. It might not have attacked the rats for reasons that still elude me, but if Kamau has been in range, he has always been attacked by it. And I daresay that where the rats are, IS in range of the snale.
A while back the text said the snale was focused specifically on the area between the ladder and the doorway to the left, which is why it wasn’t attacking anybody during the fight with the drunks.
Yeah, but that might change, when/if someone approaches the snale and/or lights the area around the rats.
Oh my bad. When I was checking the characters page at the time I think the ale buff was still there by accident/not reloaded.
Ricki: Grit. Head up the ladder with Kamau, watch for glass. Trade armor, keys, and empty mug for the rusty sword, torch, and cheap ale. Light the room for Kamau.
Kamau: Head up the ladder, mind the glass. Unlock the door with the keys and, if that isn’t an action, go kill the dire rat.
Kamau and Ricki: go up one room and avoid the glass together (have Kamau lift Ricki over as he is wearing the boots).
Ricki: Grit and swap inventory so you have 2 daggers, the rusty sword, coin of revelry and cheap ale, and Kamau has everything else.
Kamau: swap inventory with Ricki as above and use the torch to try and light the group of rats for the snale from the ladder, so you are not in the splash zone. If that doesn’t get the snale to attack (the rats!), unlock the gate with the keys and try from a little closer.
If avoiding the splash from the snale while getting it to attack the rats isn’t possible, I would suggest we go back to the entrance and see what comes out of the tap now. If it’s cheez we might be able to use that with a LOT of rats, especially considering how many empty mugs we have. We can still come back and deal with the rats and the snale later.
