Dungeon 2 Turn 3
————
Ricki and Kamau step over the mouse trap and inspect the barrel. It’s very heavy, too heavy to lift and carry, and they can feel something sloshing around inside. Judging from the smell, it’s probably more ale. There is no apparent way of getting the barrel open other than smashing it and spilling the contents everywhere.
“Do you think we can roll this into those dogs and knock them all down like bowling pins?”
“I doubt we can push it that hard. We might be able to drop it on an enemy, but we’ll only get to do that once.”
“We should be careful where we roll this thing. I think I could carefully get it DOWN a ladder, but not carry it back up again.”
Welp i suppose it’s getting mauled by dogs oclock then
Why assume the dogs are enemies? Maybe they could use some ale
We could probably also roll the barrel back to the previous room and hope that will keep the drunks busy (it could be of better quality than the one in the pipes)…
I would love nothing more than making one of the dogs a pet (I can’t help but think they are even big enough to serve as a mount for Ricki and how could would it be to have her ride a dog into battle?), but the problem is that if they are NOT friendly and we try to “negotiate” with them, that will most likely hurt and hurt BAD. Especially while there’s 3 of them.
Kamau: drain the mug of cheap ale and engage the dogs, so they don’t hurt Ricki.
Ricki: attack the dogs with the rusty sword.
I suspect we need some sort of food to make them friends. Better not risk an action
Ricki: check if kamau’s ale is flammable. If it is, break barrel and lure dogs
Kamau: ignite ale when dogs are over.
If ale is not flammable,
Move behind trap and lure dogs and fight
I am wondering if it is flammable, though using the barrel so quick is a risk…
Save the barrel for now. maybe we can use it to lure the drunks across the glass, or roll it across the glass to somehow help yourselves.
Suggestion: Try to lure one dog over together and take it down. If multiple come, move together past the traps so they hurt themselves before you fight.
Re barrel: Kamau says he can -maybe- take the barrel downstairs. We’ve got the entrance mostly cleared, it’s pitch black there. And there’s the tap there, which, although awful, will probably hold them for a moment. So the only issue is the rathole, through which rats from the bottom may come up and bite the new The Drunks Wave when it arrives. If they cover the hole with the chest, then barrel is mostly free to use here. If it survives the combat, then let Kamau take it down to local drunk team, and probably they will kill two birds with one stone: local drunks will be busy (and safe from glass), and maybe we’ll get that dagger (or what’s left of it, the drunks may use it to pry open the barrel..).
Side note: upon rethinking, taking the barrel down the ladder may be a VERY bad idea. Kamau would have to do that very carefully, and he’ll be right after combat, distracted, if not wounded. And the latter seems QUITE HIGH. Please note the hole on the bottom on the screen. The ladder does not end on this floor..
..which gives me an idea:
Re combat: How about rolling the barrel slowly forward, so the dogs cannot charge head on as a pack? Either this gives them serious advantage – any dog that wants to attack must jump over the barrel and get impaled on any pointy things they carry. Or if the dogs don’t do that – eventually down the ladder they go. I doubt they can push harder than Kamau (and Ricki if needed). Three dogs falling down the ladder. That’s not something you see often.
There is another glass trap (or something) on the third floor.
