Dungeon 2 Turn 23
————
Kamau gives Ricki her armour back and then moves the barrel left to check the bucket. It is full of rats. Fortunately Kamau is immune to rats, at least when there’s only three. The bucket is empty otherwise, but he considers that it might have a use considering how deadly this dungeon has been up to this point.
Ricki opens the chest and finds another magic lens and a potion of healing. Useful! But unfortunately, her inventory is full again. The healing potion is left where it is for now.

BUCKET
Accessory
Worn on the head. Def +1, but all attacks have a 50% chance to miss. 10% chance to break after being attacked.
Weight 1, Cost 6
Bucket is probably useful for when kamau is interposing, but i think we need to boost Ricki’s attack for it to be really useful.
We can LSO use it to try and rush past some enemies.
*also
past some enemies: for example bats or beersnails or whatsoever looms at the ceiling. –
“10% chance to break after being attacked.” OK, will break immediately when glanced at by Ricki. Sigh.
Magic missiles don’t miss. Kamau could be drunk in the dark with a bucket on his head and still land a shot, as could Ricki.
I wonder how miss chances stack, if 50% from bucket and 20% from cheap ale would mean 70% chance of missing or one 50% followed by one 20% (which works out to a 60% chance of missing since if you miss on the 50% then the 20% can’t make you miss more).
Ricki: Drink potion of healing.
Kamau: Not sure. Any chance he can bring the rats down to help deal with the drunks below, or something?
Throwing the rats at the drunks would be nice, but can it be done?
Okay so first things first kamau should heal with that potion, he’s quite low and Ricki isnt gonna die before kamau leaves us, which is basically a lose condition in and of itself
Also can we have kamau pick up a rat and just drop it on that mousetrap to disarm it
Would a large bone of the skeleton do the same? (No, I am not a necromancer trying to solve everything with/by undeads.)
Also Ricki shouldn’t use the HP pot because she still has grit
Kamau is still just above half health. Leaving some mugs behind isn’t a big loss.
Note that while Kamau leaving means we basically lose this dungeon, we’d still need to get Ricki to the entrance to abandon the dungeon, and a potion would help with exactly that.
The moment we need inventory space again, I wouldn’t mind using the potion.
That said, we’re no closer to actually solving the ale problem and Kamau has lost nearly half health. Holding onto the potion might theoretically give us a better place to use it later, but using it now simplifies things, clears up inventory space, and most likely Kamau would end up using the potion later anyway.
Kamau has 2 rat tails in one inventory slot. 3 rats will drop maximum 3 tails (no two-tails-rats yet), thus all rats’ tails can be stacked in that slot (IF he kills the rats). Kamau has 4 (!) empty and 1 full glass in his inventory. Better take the healing potion and the gem with you and deposit two glasses here. – The bucket probably “Can be used to collect liquids.” althougt only the glasses are described this way.
O.O Imagine having a bucket of cheap ale and then drinking that! I wonder what stats that would give and for how long.
Or… if maybe we could have like 10 mugs worth of ale in one bucket, and pour it out into ONE empty mug little by little, absolving us from having to carry around 10 full mugs for the same amount of liquid.
Also, what gem are you talking about, Tem?
Actions:
Ricki: swap inventory with Kamau, so you have on you: leather armour, dagger, bent wand of magic missile, 2 lenses. Go down one room (avoid the trap) and scan a bat as well as a snale with the two lenses. If still possible afterwards (I don’t know if using the lens counts as action or not), go back up into this room (avoid the trap again) and pick up the healing potion.
Kamau: attack the rats.
Me bad, sorry: I somehow imagined the magic lenses to be made from cut gemstones, because in another setting we have the rule that magic items need to be made from expensive materials of extraordinary quality. Colored glass just would not work for making magical lenses.
Ricki: move downstairs. Point out rat trap and use lens on snale.
Kamau: take bucket and healing potion. Drop mugs if no room. Ricki can throw down her leather to make room for the potion then leave it for Kamau on floor and put her armor back on. Kamau, moves down to engage drunks (lure over trap if possible).
Yeah, leaving the rats up on that ledge is probably best. I would be careful though, sending Kamau right into combat with drunks after being bitten by rats would stack up to a fair amount of damage.
Ricki: Agreed, avoid the rat trap and head down the ladder to scan a snale.
Kamau: Leave rats up on the ledge. Take healing potion, dropping mugs if needed for room. Avoid the rat trap and head down the ladder, but don’t pick a fight yet.
Kamau using the potion right away has a lot of votes, and that would fit in as the action alongside this movement.
