Dungeon 2 Turn 19
————
Ricki and Kamau knock out the last drunk and claim their rewards for doing so. Ricki picks up a second dagger, pleased with how cool she looks wielding both. Too bad it doesn’t affect her stats at all to do so. Kamau takes two more empty mugs and wonders if he should start filling and drinking some of these.
The armor
Eet is majic
Ricki: Warn Kamau about the glass trap and then go through the hallway
Kamau: Roll the barrel and follow Ricki
If we’re heading to the left, remember there are dogs there. I’d suggest:
Ricki: Trade a dagger for the torch, roll the barrel left (avoiding glass), stay back and hold the torch to light up the room.
Kamau: Head left (avoiding glass), attack a dog.
I’d prefer my other recommendation for the turn, though.
Kamau: Trade the alefor one of Ricki’s daggers. Attempt to clear the glass by rolling the barrel. If it works. go engage the dogs to the left.
Ricki: Head back to the entrance, looking for drunks. If you find some, place the ale as a distraction.
What a SHAME we can’t use a dagger as a lock pick!
Kamau & Ricki: Go down the ladder, then down again to the room with the skeletons. Don’t get close to them yet. Ask Kamau if he’s seen these green-glowy skeletons before.
I don’t think we’ll get any closer to solving the ale problem unless we mess with the pipes. I also want to do our skeleton run while that armor is still intact, if the four skeletons each deal 2 damage then that’s 2 damage with armor or 5 damage without.
I’m really torn on this. On the one hand, I agree that it’s more efficient to deal with the skeletons now and finish clearing out this section of the dungeon, which doesn’t lead anywhere else. And the armor argument makes sense too.
On the other hand, if we can solve the ale problem (which is our main quest here) without messing with the skeletons at all, we can avoid a dangerous encounter.
Unfortunately, until we can get a look at the bottom left third of the dungeon, we can’t really tell WHAT will solve the ale problem …
… but I’m happy to speculate 🙂 Right now we can see three valves, and each is guarded by some nasty-looking enemies. Either
a) we have to deal with the valves to fix the ale problem, or
b) the ale problem is caused by something else we can’t see yet, and the valves are just red herrings.
I guess a) seems more likely to me; I don’t think LSN is that much of a sadist. But I’ve never played one of these before so I don’t know him as well as some of you do.
Anyway, I’m voting to do the skeleton run now.
I think we are being given a hint. Kamau doesn’t actually need to attack to win fights, he can use his interpose ability to protect Ricki and let Ricki do the damage. That means Kamau can drink a ton of alcohol for higher defense without worrying about the low accuracy.
This strategy seems like the safest way to handle a dungeon right now, if a bit slower.
I just hope Ricky is not underaged lol
