Dungeon 15 Turn 39
————

The party makes their way towards the gargantula to enact their battle plan. They can’t in good conscience leave that thing alive.
Sue leaves her rope on one of the raised platforms, then gets ferried across across the room by Lara along with Ricki and the pets. Amadeusz simple jumps across, taking 1 unblockable damage from the landing. At moments like this he feels his age.
The party heads to the right.

Everyone works together to attack the massive spider. As has held true so far, without other instructions the gargantula seems inclined to attack whoever carries a spider idol, which in this case is Lara. The crushing power of the spider’s jaws deals 3 damage to her, while several pets in the room take area damage from its wild thrashing; 3 damage for Daisy and Princess, and 4 damage for Golly.
Ricki and Sue had calculated that this combined effort should be enough to destroy the spider…

…However, the power of the arachnomancer high temple courses strongly through this creature’s body. Bleeding terribly from the onslaught, it readies one final attack, a devastating blast that goes beyond anything the party could have prepared for!!

But then Golly kicks the gargantula to death before it can finish.
It drops a venom gland, and Sue turns the rest of its body into 44 gold coins.

VENOM GLAND, GARGANTULA
Tool
A character with Poison Use can apply this venom to a weapon when making an attack five times per dungeon. That attack deals 3-6 additional poison damage.
Weight 1, Cost 45
#NeverSkipLegDay
#GirlsGetItDone
#BetterThanMolly
I know what you meant, but considering relation of #tags to socials, I feel kinda bad for all girls named Molly xD
I’m glad that went well (go Golly! and everyone else), but I’m really diapointed that when we lensed it (quoted below), the received text did not say anything about this beam weapon.
[GARGANTULA
HP: 44
Atk: 9
Def: 9
Ability: +3~6 poison damage, deals 3 unblockable damage if all melee damage is blocked, deals 5 damage to characters near target
Drops: Gargantula Venom Gland
The worldβs largest spider, conjured by the Goddess of Spiders herself to aid her arachnomancer cult, though they are impossible to fully control. They are typically content to remain in their lairs and wait to be fed, but they can become enraged if they perceive that a place holy to the Goddess is under attack.]
What’s the point in lensing, when we do not get -all- the information, anyways?
I’m guessing the beam weapon was more or less a joke.
It’s in the text that this is a feature of the location and spider goddess’ powers, not the spider itself.
Huh, somehow I missed that. Thanks for pointing it out to me.
I guess it’s unrealistic to expect a “can be used as a beam weapon by matching deities” in an enemy description, because that’s more or less a definition of a god (in some systems): they can do anything.
It might easily go unnoticed, since all other VenomGlands were consumables
But Gargantula’s one we got now is a TOOL
This means it probably does not disappear after being used 5 times
Plan: set an ambush
Lara: move left. Ferry Sue, Ricki and pets over the bump. Help Sue with getting wolf over bump.
Ricki: move left. Get help over bump. Move left and point out ladder trap to group and avoid. Move down. Action move left upper.
Sue: move left with Lara and past bump. From drider spot, toss one end of the rope to wolf while you and Lara hold the other end so he can get past bump. Pocket the rope after.
Wolf: move left. Use Sue and Lara’s rope to get past bump. Move left and pickup cigs and potion. Drop meat
We need to clear driders so we’re moving that way.
I recall LSN stating that we always need something nearby to attach a rope to, like a ladder, lever or another character. So maybe we can save an action with the rope so we can use it in bottom left area.
I know we’re always on a time crunch, but is it wise not healing anyone yet? We have a character and two pets on 1 health, and a third pet on two health. Even the littlest bit of unblockable or AoE damage is going to be tragic.
I agree… But Sue needs to spend her action to get wolf out so he can use his actions. There is nothing for him to do over there while we heal.
We will heal next turn for sure
I wanted to say “Grit”, but oopsie, we’re out of it already
Also to the best of my knowledge pets can’t Grit, so it would only be minimally useful.
It’s not totally clear to me where Ricki is supposed to end up. Is it the hallway above the last brazier on the left? I guess she’s there to case the high priestess if she teleports to that brazier next turn?
I guess it doesn’t matter, since Lara was able to carry everybody across all in one turn this time, but I’ll say it again: As long as she’s wearing the chameluxeon mittens, Ricki shouldn’t need any help getting across the bump.
The only other party member who’s going to be in that room is Wolf, and he won’t remember / be able to find the trap on future turns unless Ricki points it out to him again.
Left, left, down, left (upper) ends up in the room with the first brazier we destroyed, above hallway where the Drider and Spider did a ton of damage to Lara earlier.
Ricki pointing out traps is probably a placeholder from a previous version of this plan. Doesn’t really matter though. At least she’s pointing it out to herself. π
Aragog no!
can princess eat the giant spiders corpse?
He already ate once this dungeon, unless I’m mistaken.
I wish it could, that could look fun, even if did nothing to its stats π
