Dungeon 15 Turn 22
————

Amadeusz opens the chest at the end of the hall and finds a treasure, a spider idol. It looks pretty breakable, so he’s glad he has room to carry it so he doesn’t immediately fumble it onto the floor. It almost breaks anyway as Ricki and Lara attack the nearby poison brazier and cause a massive burst of venomous magic. They both fully resist the poison damage.
Nearby, Sue uses the upgrade press to mush two sets of silk armour together into a new, even silkier armour.

SPIDER IDOL
Treasure
A delicately carved idol made of fragile black glass with gemstone eyes. While carried, take +1 damage from all spiders and arachnomancers. Breaks if dropped.
Weight 1, Cost 50
Ricki: Head right, down the ladder. Point out the pressure plate trap to your party and avoid it yourself, and head left to the Killer Spiders. Point out the web to everyone as well, including the pets. Make sure you’re wearing both your Atk Rings and your funny spider hat. Attack Spider 1.
Lara: Pick up Sue and head right. Follow Ricki while avoiding the trap to the left. Be aware of the web. Make sure you’re wearing your Poison-boosting ensemble and wielding your Siegesword. Attack Spider 2.
Wolf: Head right. Follow Ricki while avoiding the pressure plate trap to the left. Be aware of the web. Attack Spider 3.
Sue: Be carried by Lara. Dismount her when you reach the Killer Spiders room. Throw your Shocktail at Spider 1 to help Ricki.
Daisy, Shroom & Princess: Take revenge on the web that Ricki points out to you so it can’t hurt anybody else ever again.

Most likely kills one spider while weakening the other two. We can potentially kill the other two and the Brazier in one fell swoop on the following turn.
Ok. I didn’t get what’s the thing with the idol, until I noticed ‘treasure’. So that tiny thing sells for solid whole 50gp, and basically it’s an optional challenge item. Be ganged upon by by 4 spiders, take +4dmg, but have noticably more cash for just 1 Enc. I wonder if we’re gonna find more of them here. If we’re not careful, greed can be killing factor here đ They don’t stack, but 50gp for 1enc, hmmhmmhm
Edit: nice hint from gm – always have slots free when opening a chest. Dropping items is for free, so just “drop 3 items and loot the chest” might be our new standard procedure for some time.
Edit: heeeeeeeeeeey we have the LuckyPaw! just throw it to whoever doesn’t attack and sell anytime and debuff is gone and we can buy back the paw immediately and still profit
The caveat with paw is that it sucks up time. 1 action to summon and 1 action to sell. If we don’t time it right we could accidently miss time engaging the spiders that respawn and spend more actions killing them again. I think we probably should still use paw regardless tho
We could put the idol on Golly in place of the venom blade, since they’re both 1 enc. Probably only worthwhile if we needed Ama and Sue to do some other trading at the same time. (“Breaks if dropped” is a clever way to force us to trade it rather than having Ama drop it and Sue pick it up the next turn; well played, LSN.)
I think that âBreaks if droppedâ is actually intended against ignoring the challenge while reaping the bonus. If it was not there, we’d just collect all the figurines (if there are more) and leave them on floor on some good spot to open Paws’s shop and we’d get all the $ with no risk of damage. âBreaks if droppedâ make this a challenge: fully commit, or cancel and it’s lost. I think that’s the main point, and all the side effects like you mention are just ‘bonus’ on top of original idea.
All potions also “break if dropped”.
Give the idol to princess
