Dungeon 14 Turn 17
————
Ricki and her friends turn and attack the crossbow squad. She and Macadamia each defeat one of the kobold marksmen while Kamau intercepts two out of three of their bolts, dodging the third. The pets attack the third marksman, but their combined damage is just barely insufficient to defeat him in a single flurry.
Botanya heals Daisy for 2 HP. The canine emits a delightful whine of gratitude.
Everyone: First finish off the enemies, and then:
Sue: Open the hatch and go down to meet the kobolds as they have wonderful stories to tell and while you are down there help them all up through the hatch
Ricki and co: Help the kobolds up out of the deathtrap
Botanya: Pull the lever after the kobolds are rescued to see what happens
Golly: If Sue won’t go down the hole then after the kobolds are rescued, and before the level is pulled, push Sue down into the hole
Sue watching Ricki “knockout” that Kobold by hitting him in the back of the head with her electrified katana like: 🙂

…but I have no idea how she managed to keep her dress clean, probably hydrophobic material (or blood-phobic?). oor, if I misunderstood and if that’s just red sparks from metal-to-metal hit, then it’s all shiny red sparks on Sue as well!
Idk if we should be wasting healing on Daisy. Save it for if Sue gets hurt.
Plan: Deal with Sue (and her annoying narrator skills)
Ricki and Sue: activate trap door step next to kobolds
Botanya: flip lever
Kamau: catch Ricki before she fall
Mac: Quickly flip lever again and lock sue down
Then we wait for turn 30
Last kobold miner is still alive and will deal damage. Triggering the trap in the floor will also deal damage, hopefully falling damage, not explosive (as recently tested by Amadeusz), but I think we should not asume. Let’s get this last miner out of the equation first, and let’s try freeing the kobolds on the next turn. We don’t want any of those things happening:
A) we have safety shield of Interpose from Kamau, but that does NOT prevent that Kobold from suddenly running to the lever and pulling it to our surprise
B) anyone stepping on the plate will be damaged, that probably includes pets
C) we don’t know the exact order of actions, someone can step on it first, then get also hit by the miner
D) if we start rescuing the kobolds too soon, if we lift any of them up to top level, that angry miner can act upon this and can either attack the rescuee (traitors! blasphemy! etc), or can pull the lever (ya’ll ain’t getting any of them! etc)
E) if we get anyone down there to help rescue kobolds, and in that turn the miner is alive, if miner pulls the lever, our guy may fall, regardless of the number of kobolds actually rescued
IMHO, that’s WAY too many options to screw up.
Let’s clear the air now, let’s pull up the poor guys next turn.
Kamau – keep interposing
Mac, Ricky – KO the miner
Botanya – mulch on the miner
Sue – wonder
Pets – be happy, or help KO the miner for a merry total overkill
edit: geesh, what the hell is wrong with this non-markdown fancy comment formatter? it reacts to things like dash-space but then screws all the bullets and lists into one-liners 😐 I’m trying to format it properly like 3rd time?
Plan: safely clean up.
Mac: swap one of your attack rings with a defense ring. knock out the last miner.
Kamau: hold the miner down so he can’t run it flip the lever out of spite.
Ricki: open up the floor. Use your picks if needed. And ask if the kobolds are ok.
Botania: mend Daisy again. Mulch the miner if you can
Don’t want kobold miner to flip lever. Getting the kobolds out next turn should be a free action so we can start moving back towards entrance
Quick ring swap to get more def on Mac to avoid remorse should miner attack
> Kamau: hold the miner down so he can’t run it flip the lever out of spite.
To be honest, I don’t think Kamau can do this. If Kamau is not capable of a grapple-like action, then according to this plan, his turn is wasted on fruitlessly trying to grab the miner and he doesn’t even provide protection for the team. IDK. Maybe this is not needed. But we open the hatch. Miner could attack those poor kobolds, too.
Better include a word ‘interpose’ so Kamau doesn’t stop doing this. Just in case.
