Dungeon 1 Turn 20
————
Ricki opens the second chest in hopes of finding something to mitigate her disappointment. There’s a healing potion, which is definitely going to be useful, and also… a broken sword?
It looks like it was some kind of two-handed sword when it was whole. It has a word inscribed on the blade: “Kamau.” Or maybe it’s a name?
Ricki decides to take the broken sword with her, though she has to leave everything else behind for now (unless she drops something else). She also reminds herself that half of her window to escape safely is now gone! In 20 more turns, the guards will patrol, and getting away will be much harder.

Go back and give that guy that impassioned speech about how he can’t possibly make things right from a prison cell and ethically, he has to help you kill guards and escape. You know, from a moral perspective.
Ricki: Drink the potion, drop both torches for the thieves’ tools and the dagger, then try to move one of the chests below the key to grab it
Check to see if we can move the chest over. Save the picks for something we can’t use the keys for, right?
Quietly make your way to the next level. Then, read the papers.
Assuming the chest can be moved without alerting anyone, we should use one to reach the keys for sure. Also drinking the potion seems like a good idea. We have to pass the 3 rats to get to the trator again, and if they dont find the rats tail appetizing, its a fight we won’t likely win. Torches should be dropped in favor of the dagger and thieves tools. And finally, with the info Ricky has gotten, it doesn’t seem to be quite enough to get through to the traitor, and making more than one trip past those 3 rats without backup is ill advised. I say we check the papers upstairs before leaving the room at least.
Drink the potion and bring the hilt and the fruit remnants to the guy’s cell. Throw the pits on the floor and tell him you were arrested for stealing the fruits that they came from, and the guards ate them, even though you were starving when you stole them. Your ‘meal’ callously placed outside of your reach, where the only thing that could eat it was the rats. That you were supposed to have been released, and yet were left forgotten. Show him the broken sword that is probably his and plea for his help.
Ricki should drink the potion (then she doesn’t have to carry it) and put one of the torches back onto the wall next to the ladder (to free up more inventory space, a dropped torch is destroyed, we don’t want that).
I also vote to carefully and stealthily push one of the chests below the key ring, close the chest again and pick up the key ring. Afterwards carefully and stealthily climb the ladder and inspect/read the papers on that table. If I’m interpreting the pictures here https://dungeoneyes.com/how-to-play/ correctly, the dogs will not start to bark until she goes anywhere near the small ladder (behind the bucket and the rat). If possible without triggering a reaction from the rat, read the sign above the bucket as well.
Once we’ve drunk the potion, we should show the sword to the other prisoner and ask if he knows anything about it. Maybe it’s the impetus we need to convince him to help Ricki!
