“I see you’ve brought home dinner AND a dinner guest. Dare I ask where you found this human?”
“In jail.”
“In jail. Lovely.”
“My name’s Kamau. Nice to meet you, ma’am.”
“Lohk. Not “ma’am.””
“Kamau helped me escape, and then helped me get some food.”
“Is he a thief as well, then?”
“That’s the best part! We didn’t HAVE to steal it, we EARNED it!”
“Mm. Always nice to know the Guard isn’t going to kick our tents down looking for…”
“Half a stale loaf, a thin strip of pork, and an apple that appears to have been stepped on.”
“Right?! We haven’t eaten this good since the bugbear brothers lost their farm!”
“More food, sure. And less to go around, if we’re also feeding this one.”
“Don’t be silly! We wouldn’t have all this if not for Kamau, of course he should get his fair share.”
“Be careful, Ricki. Humans seem to think their fair share is awfully large.”
Optimists say the loaf is half full.
Perhaps the loaf is half empty.. all that air.
To be fair, Kamau is bigger so he probably needs more food than them. 😛
Maybe make a soup?
“>Some< humans seem to think their fair share is awfully large.”
FTFY, Lohk. 🙂
I think I love this story.
