Amadeusz finished a dungeon! He can gain one new ability from this list:
Bloodlust: +1 Atk against creatures not at full HP while in werewolf form.
Bonelust: +1 Atk against skeletons while in werewolf form.
Energetic Jig : Self and allies in the room recover 1 HP.
Heroic Ballad : Allies in the room have +1 Atk and Def this turn.
Howl: Can use abilities in werewolf form, but each counts as one additional Song use and no instrument can be used.
Langourous Waltz : Enemies in the room have -1 Atk and Def this turn.
Light Armour Proficiency: +1 Def when wearing armour with a base Def bonus of +2 or less.
Light Sword Proficiency: +1 Atk when wielding a longsword or similar weapon.
Musical III: Can use four abilities per dungeon if holding an instrument.
Rend I: When dual wielding gain a 20% chance to deal +2 damage.
Shaggy I: While in werewolf form, 30% chance to gain a +2 bonus to Def each turn.
Shapeshift II: Can transform into werewolf form and back once per dungeon each. Werewolf form has +4 Atk and +2 Def, but cannot use weapons, shields, armour, or abilities.
Tooth And Nail II: Each empty hand counts as a +2 Atk weapon while in werewolf form.
Wolf Speed: +1 Mov in werewolf form.
Wound Closure: While in werewolf form, recover 1 HP at the start of each turn if below 5 HP.
Musical III – Being able use more abilities in the dungeon is extremely useful!
My brain can’t process what will happen if Amad:
will he be able to use Requiem despite being in Wolf form? (because he has Howl that allows him to use musical-abilities, and has requried 4 musical-charges)
will he be unable to use Requiem despite having Howl? (because Musical says “can use 4 musical-abilities” but it has a specific clause “if holding a musical instrument” AND werewolf-form says he can’t use instruments AND even the Howl specifically says “and no instrument can be used”).
If to follow it very precisely, with Musical-3 only grants extra charges if instrument is being used (otherwise he’s down to starting number of charges), and Wolf-Amad – yeah, can use music with Howl, but only the SIMPLE music and only ONCE.
Musical describes how it works in bard form.
Howl lets him use the abilities in wolf form but expending an extra charge.
“if holding a musical instrument” means that in bard form, he cannot use the musical abilities without his violin or another instrument.
He can use them in wolf form. With Musical III, he can use simple ones twice or a complex one once.
That’s the way I see it.
It aint that deep. Musical gives extra Song charges. Howl removes instrument requirement at the cost of an extra song charge when using songs.
Except… if we’re keeping Amadeusz in wolf mode all the time except when he’s using Requiem (which, as already demonstrated, doesn’t have to be done immediately), would we ever use the extra ability? He can only transform each way once, after all.
The Musical III + Howl combo to be able to Requiem in wolf form seems not to be actually necessary.
Tooth and Nail II
Solid damage buff. We can worry about his health next time. He has a lot of it.

‘Tooth And Nail I’ actually is marked as “1” on Amad’s character sheet, but here it’s missing. I don’t know if that’s an error, or if it really has some preconditions that we didn’t fullfil yet.

I know we like to one-shot enemies as much as we can, but there have been times we split attacks to finish off multiple wounded enemies and this helps Amad not need a partner.
This would only be worth it if Tooth and Nail II (+2 attack unconditional besides Wolf form) and Shapeshift II (+1 attack +1 defense unconditional besides Wolf form) are actually not available, rather than just a copy error. I’m guessing it’s a copy error, since every ability alphabetically after Requiem is missing.
Shapeshift II
Amadeusz’ other songs pale in comparison to Requiem, and Requiem requires most of his song points. We should improve his Wolf form so he can be incredibly useful while not needing his musical abilities. If we can find some better instruments that might sway my opinion, but as of right now we have pipes, and Zing & Thrum, neither of which are crazy useful.
If we worry about Requiem use I would rather get Musicall III and Howl nest time, whenever it would be.Or preferably forget his music exists, build him exclusivelly as Wolf, and only turn him into human when we screw up. We should try not to screw up.as is extra ShapeShift won’t be usefull since we have 3 charges for music. We can’t play anything else if we want to be able to use Ressurection, and we do want to have that “get out of jail for free” card.We start as wolf, hold transformation charges and music, and rend and tear like a good boy.nvm, forgot that Shapeshift upgrade also upgrades base stats of Wolf Form from +3Attack/+1Def to +4Attack/+2Def

To be clear:
Shapeshift II gives him +1 ATK and +1 DEF while in Wolf form and he’s going to be spending the majority of time in dungeons in Wolf form. So this is a better bonus than Tooth and Nail because the DEF is worth more than the bonus to ATK.

Not really disagreeing, but as an alternative: given the +1 use of Musical III and the +1 cost of Howl, those two abilities combined should mean he can use Requiem in wolf form, and thus wouldn’t need this extra “burnable” transformation.
Shapeshift II doesn’t give extra shapeshift uses. It increases the stat bonus Amadeusz gets while in Wolf Form.
Shapeshift I gives +3 Atk & +1 Defense
Shapeshift II gives +4 Atk & +2 Defense
So basically an extra +1 Atk & Def while in WolfShift.
For reasons, I can’t find the usual werewolf upgrades on the list.
My vote is for Shapeshift II.
Wolf speed
Mov points are a lot harder and more useful to get than atk or def points and he has base 1 so this is like double speed. He can keep up with Ricki!
Languorous Waltz. Because I like the word Languorous.
Light Armour Proficiency could be really helpful when he’s not in werewolf form.
Bloodlust.
straight up damage boost over time.
Pair that with Ricki’s backstab (go vote for that one) and we have fights finishing much quicker
This is unambiguously worse than both Shapeshift (+1 attack +1 defense) and Tooth and Nail (+2 attack).
