Dungeon 12 Turn 59
————
Ricki swims down towards the final poison-spewing egg sac. It’s time to finish this.
Ricki takes 1 unblockable damage from the final burst of poison, but within seconds the water finally clears up completely. The well has been cleansed!
“blblblbblblblbblbllb”
“BBLBLLBLLBLBLBLBLLBLBL”
“BLBBBLBLLBLBLLBLBLBLBLBLBL”
“…but we got away, so it all turned out all right in the end!”
“Wow, that’s incredible!”
“…Didn’t there used to be only four of you, though?”
“Nope!”
“Oh, okay.”
Dungeon 12 is complete!
Level up pages are coming monday, but the wrap-up stream is tomorrow evening!
Since the dungeon is finished, will it be put on the Archive page?I’m curious, because the page hasn’t been updated since the Spider Temple.
Congrats everyone. I think we learned a lot from this dungeon.
Do not trust skulls that are oying on the floor without the rest of the skeleton…?
Ricki looks so cool swimming down in the first panel.
And then hold that up next to its sequel, panel six…
I AM A GENIUS
OH NO
-type of effect,from my POV.
New party member: 7 mushies in a trenchcoat xD
What’s not to love?
OH THANK FUCK!FINALLY!!!
Let us agree to never speak of this place again,& forget it even existed.
Literally the most dangerous dungeon so far, even the Zombies weren’t that much of a threat compared to the nasty water.
……….
So in other news,is now a good time to talk about Level-ups?Because I did put some thought into it (inb4 lots of downvotes):
■Ricki: A commenter,I think it was que, said to boost her evasion. While nice,I want her to develop Backstab. The extra +1DMG will be more useful (especially next dungeon) than an extra 5% dodge.
■Lara: ????? No idea.I guarantee that her being a drider will open up new possibilities. She probably can’t get any of her “normal” Abilities anymore.
■Cordy:I can think of 3 options…1 is extra pets,2 is Shroom bomb, for ranged AoE & crowd control, and 3 is the AoE recoil attack (like what the blowfish have).Sure,ROT let’s him bypass Poison Resistance, but he already has the Cobra Hood,& I don’t think anyone else wants it.
■Amadeusz:I at first wanted him to get the ressurection Ability (to avoid what nearly happened to Lara within the first 10 turns) but in hindsight there might be 2 better Abilities.Bloodlust gives his wolf form extra DMG to injured foes,& his human form can unlock an AoE heal ability.Musical III is also cool.
Anything I missed?
I like the idea of Backstab, but I think it’s the sort of thing that’s probably more worth it in the long run but isn’t necessarily the most valuable pick right now. Personally, I really like the idea of Sneak; even as a once-per-dungeon ability it’s easy to imagine a number of scenarios where it could come in handy.
Even in this dungeon, Ricki could have used Sneak to easily bypass the swarm of fish instead of having to wait and pray that they went a certain way. We could also use it to stealthily loot a chest that is being guarded by a large group of enemies, or to disengage from combat, etc.
The biggest limiting factor of Sneak is that Ricki can’t wear/carry any items with a weight above 3, but that just means we assign someone else the mule- which we usually want to do anyways since Daisy gives her an extra movement point. Which, with Sneak, would let Ricki move a whopping three rooms completely undetected. It’s a very manageable downside.
For Cordy, I don’t think Spore Bomb is a great idea since the poison damage doesn’t seem to be unblockable, and we’ll probably only be sacrificing small shrooms- which doesn’t give him a lot of potential damage. Hazard Spores is much better; either that or Loyal Minions are very worthwhile choices. Although I think Mushroom Master III, if it goes that high, is going to be very tempting as well.
As for Amadeusz- I think we should grab the resurrection song. Then, after that, we can focus entirely on building up his werewolf form if we want to. Or we could continue to upgrade his bard skills.
With Amadeusz, I think we’re going to have to pick between which of his forms we want to build up in the long run. But even if we want to focus on the wolf form, a potential resurrection is way too good to ignore. It does lead to the problem where we become afraid to use his musical abilities for fear of being unable to rez someone- but that’s why we’d want to start building up his werewolf form after this. So long as the wolf is the form we want to use most of the time, Amadeusz can have that resurrection in his back pocket and only bust it out when it’s really needed.
And yeah; I expect Lara to have mostly entirely new abilities. Or old abilities that she needs to unlock post-transformation, which is basically the same thing.
Hooray for constructive criticism!
Sneak has been confirmed to be an action, which severely limits its uses as we can’t loot on the same turn, and in general if we Sneak through something too tough to traverse then we’re now trapped on the other side. Getting out of combat would make it much more interesting as we’ve definitely found ourselves in fights that were bigger than expected, and scouting out roaming enemies would be nice.
Backstab is good with pile ones, but ambush could help one shot any baddies when ricki is by her lonesome. But the utility of sneak is hard to pass up. Dodge caps at 70% per lsn, so it’s still an option but random chance and all…
Wolf ama is surprisingly useful now that we know raw meat can heal him. That’s a huge benefit. But I think after how close this dungeon was you’re gonna be hard pressed to convince anyone to do anything but the rez.
Spore bomb can be reaaaaally brutal if set up right. I do like that one.
Really looking forward to see lara drider’s new abilities.
Hey,I was the first to suggest Resurection after Amy’s 1st Level-up (where we used bombs) & I was downvoted because “it makes him less efficient at his other bark skills cause it costs 3 notes”.Freaking annoying that I get downvotes for saying the same things as the other readers here.
I wonder if Amadeusz smells like a wet dog after all that.
I imagine he’ll be grateful once we get back to the manor, but I’m kind of low-key hoping that he gives Ricki some grief over how that dungeon was handled during their heart-to-heart. I feel like we’re due for another in-character reminder that dugeoneering is dangerous and that we shouldn’t be screwing around as much as we did. I feel like Amadeusz is the sort of person who would comment on that sort of thing, and Kamau, Lohk, and Mac have already had their turns to be the voice of reason.
And OOC, it’s hard not to feel like we basically wasted ten actual real life days over the last ten turns. LSN usually likes to take a break for a week or two after finishing a dungeon; we could have been either halfway through that break or already started on the intermission by now if we’d just finished the dungeon after killing the boss instead of trying to be greedy.
That’s kinda frustrating tbh, and I can’t imagine LSN was overly thrilled about it either.
I think I’d be more frustrated if we lost someone or the comic. I certainly didn’t vote for the greed plan, but I think – ESPECIALLY since we eked it out (GREAT JOB TEAM) we can chalk this up as a good lesson to take the soft timer seriously. Especially for dungeons with nasty hazards such as this. I’m not gonna do the blame game on this one.
Also if you don’t think lsn was semi gleeful in bringing down the punishment hammer on us to teach us a lesson, I think you’re mistaken. But hey we can ask him on the twitch stream.
I mean I laughed out loud when the second bucket of fish came so mission accomplished.
I totally saw that coming, but not at 55th 🙂
Random thought:Ricki should hug Amy & thank him for rescuing Lara that one time,& also hug Lara so she doesn’t get jealous.
Another random thought:Lohk suffered the most due to Amy’s urging to delve the manor,I don’t think he ever apologised to her.
Find the villager who dumped in the Swarmfish and throw him down the well.
This is not a bad decision.
Broken clocks and whatnot
I feel like people would call you worse things than just “a broken clock”.
Force-feed him that bucket of poison we left!
Please explain how did you know how will the fish move? It looked like a game over…
Discord has a map on the dungeon made up every run and a lot of talking and gaming out statistical possibilities. They were able to made an educated guess based on previous turns. Which is good Cause I certainly would not have been able to do it on my own.
Is there an ETA on when the wrap-up stream will happen? Will it be on Youtube or Twitch?
They’re generally on Twitch on the Sunday after dungeon completion at 7pm Eastern time. While streaming, this website adds a banner link at the top to the stream.
I think it’s the same slot he uses for streaming other video games.
So…it’ll be in 6 days,is what I’m hearing…
Because it’s monday 17:10 for me,as of writing this reply-comment.
Unfortunately, It happened Yesterday. You can watch the VOD this week on Twitch. Someone from Discord usually writes up a summary of the stream for everyone and posts in on the Dungeon Summary page (ie. once the lvl ups have be finalized).
Huh?When did it happen?! already said it was a monday when I wrote that comment,& the Banner at the top didn’t change!
I hope we can give Lara her speech back in the Level Up. No dungeon bonuses necessary. I don’t need her to return to her original form. I just want her to talk again. It would be worth it. Like the cost is that we waste a level up on something that doesn’t make her more powerful. I’d be willing to pay that price!
Drider form is supposed to be punishment and her sacrifice for Ricki. I dunno how to put it, but if we can fix her disability by simply levelling up once, that kinda makes her story less tragic, if not pointless. Not losing her mind is already generous.
We might find something funky in the research station.Maybe LSN will make us choose between a really good item or fixing her speech.
