Dungeon 11 Turn 16
————
Ricki takes a quick peek at the room below. Looks like the rats are back, but in yet another different configuration. She heads back upstairs.
Ricki, Amadeusz, and Macadamia group up to attack the scorpion. They fairly easily defeat it (despite the fact that Mac doesn’t actually deal any damage), and Ricki is able to resist any damage from its counterattack in turn. It doesn’t drop any loot.
Meanwhile, Kamau begins the battle against the second golem. With a Heroic Effort he deals some moderate damage to it, but takes 1 damage in return from the impact of its mighty metal fist.
Ricki: Head up, slash the Golem with your Swiftblade.
Kamau: Attack the Golem again. Drop your Warhammer to pick up its dropped Core.
Macadamia: Head up the ladder, loot the chest that’s far to the right of the Golem.
Amadeusz: Read the note by the door in this room.
Moving Ricki into melee will result in another point of Remorse for Kamau. For the next one of these, we need to move the Swiftblade over to Kamau to get the +5 bonus for lightning. Granted, the golem is dropping Kamau back down again which will require more time to heal up. We need a potion of healing badly.
Ricki and Kamau will probably use grit which should help for next big battle. One more remorse should be fine as long as no other golems show up
I don’t think it’s worth switching. Kamau’s Hilt is +3, but the swiftblade is only +1 (plus +5), so using it would only give him an extra +3 to damage overall. That would put his damage per turn against the golem at 16 (edit: 17 with Heroic Effort), which is still not enough for him to kill it by himself in two turns
, or even three.Definitely the worst possible idea is wasting a whole bunch of turns and Kamau’s HP just to save 1 point of remorse. Remorse is a resource, we can spend it as long as we spend it wisely.
Kamau has Def 10 and lost 1 HP, i.e. the golem hit for 11. Ricki has 8 Def, that could mean 3 HP and 3 remorse points on Kamau. Or is the 1 HP just unblockable damage and the golem’s total attack is way below 11?
Golem’s attack is 8. Kamau just took the unblockable point.
Oh, yes, we lensed it and it is at the “Enemies”-page! Thanks.
A revised version of Sick’s plan that might save us some damage and remorse.
Ricki: Head up, slash the Golem with your Swiftblade.
Kamau: Attack the Golem again. Drop your Warhammer to pick up its dropped Core.
Macadamia: Head up the ladder, loot the chest that’s far to the right of the Golem.
Amadeusz: Climb up and play the pipes.
If we leave the note unread, we still have enough party members to do all the remaining actions in this room on turn 18 (loot 2nd chest, grab keys, read note, maybe try keys in door).
But if it turns out Mac has the right keys, he can open the door next turn and allow Ricki and Ama to read notes and loot in the next room
Well, we could have him read the note next turn instead of looting the chest. If it says “This is Door 5,” then we know he’s got the right key. I don’t want to edit the plan I posted since people have already voted on it, but you could post a re-revised version.
(I’m not posting it myself because I’d prefer to finish the room we’re in before moving on to another.)
I’d like to consolidate golem cores on Ricki and keys on Mac.
Kamau: finish that golem. Drop your hammer (heavy things belong on a mule)
Ricki: finish that golem. Drop axe and keys, pick up golem core (let Mac carry loot)
drop everything by the key on the wall so it arguably forms one pile of loot
Mac: loot the right chest. Move chainmail to Golly if you need space
Ama: read the note
Huh. I’d been assuming that keys would automatically consolidate themselves.
Only if the same character picks them up
Attention: Characters can drop items freely, but picking items up is an action, so everyone who does “finish the golem” will only be able to do that the turn following the one with the golem battle.
Picking up items from a battle (dropped loot) is a free action the turn the battle completes.
