Dungeon 11 Turn 15
————
Ricki, Kamau, and Amadeusz quickly dispatch the wounded centipedes without taking any damage. They drop zero venom glands, which is both annoying and typical. Kamau drops the longsword he’s carrying to pick up one of the heavy imperial shields, but everything else from that combat gets dropped on the floor.
Macadamia ascends the ladder and smifs one of the mysteriously unattended imperial chain armours into another silver ring of protection.
Tally-ho towards the Scorpion!
Kamau: go one floor up, Interpose the scorpion’s attacks using your heavy imperial shield, standing near the scorpion. Have mushy attack the scorpion.
Amadeusz: go one floor up, Stab Scorpion
Ricki: go up one floor and read note
Daisy: Attack Scorpion whilst your owner is reading the note.
Mac: go one floor up, Willfully ignore the battle around you (lalala, you can’t hear iiiiit) and see if your key works on the door next to the scorpion.
Have Kamau switch to the imperial shield, please.
I don’t remember the numbers exactly, but the scorpion packs one hell of a punch with its claws, tail and poison.
Done
Man we are at 3 or 4 rings now? It’s a bit worth it to bring Mac along for these because even if you could only wear one at a time, that’s almost the full team with at least one by the end of this.
… that’s a LOT of stuff that we could feed the rust creature. And if the rat tunnels in this room and the rust creatures room connect, it is also conveniently close-by to not have to spend tooooo many turns on this.
Iirc, there was something positive that happened the last time we encountered one of these and fed it. You know, before the guards squished it. (Or could it possibly be the SAME rust creature and the guards back then only subdued it and took it into captivity? That would be awesome!)
It was the rusted Puzzle Chest! It was the same colours as rusted gear, and there was also a lot of gear that came pre-rusted in that dungeon; the connection to rust couldn’t be missed.
The other good thing was not so mechanical, and that was how cute the darn bug was when we made it happy. You know the phrase “cute as a bug?” That little guy, and no bug cuter.
What sort of reward do we get for feedimg the rust creature this time? Because I think the secret to that chest, based on its color, has something to do with those blood rats. I bet there’s something you have to do to make the pattern of rats materialize so it’s all blood rats. Like deliberately lay out food on those tables or something. As for the rust creature I hope that by feeding it metal things, it just leaves satisfied so we don’t have to kill it.
I think if we destroy the support beam. Rusty will start roaming in search of food.
Kamau: Attack Scorpion
Mac: try to open the door behind scorpion with your key
Ricki: go to the right after Mac opens door, point out trap at the bottom of ladder and the top rung, read left note
Amadeuz: Go right after Mac opens door, heed Ricki warning, flip the lever.
Kamau: go to golem and attack it
Amadeusz: move to scorpion and attack it
Ricky: check room below, move back up and to scorpion and attack it
Mac: recover chain armor from Golly (doesn’t require action), move to scorpion and attack it.
The scorpion does 8-9 damage (possibly random and possibly from multiple attack so it should do 0-1 damage to attackers and definitely die from their massive attacks, we risk 1 remorse but it definitely dies. Mac has 9 armor with chainmail so we actually hope scorpion attacks him. Kamau gets started on golem which we finish next turn with him, Ricky, and Amadeusz, allowing us access to 1 set of key and 2 chests, and Mac can try to open the door.
