“One by one, the dragons were slain, and the kobolds liberated.”
“The Emperor took the time to speak with each group personally and welcome them into the Empire.”
“He led them out of their tunnels and into His light. Into freedom.”
“He isn’t just our Emperor.”
“He is our saviour.”
Understandable. Doesnt mean i would want to take the empires shit, but its better than before.
So the Emperor is warrior Jesus to them. Yeah, I understand why he is so hard on for the empire.
Hmm, the kobold miners didn’t seem to have this kind of opinion/reaction to the emperor at all. I wonder why there’s such a difference.
There were probably some kobolds who venerated the dragons as (basically) gods. Even if your god is kinda bad for you, he’s still your god.
Also unless I’m mistaking the timeline, most/all kobolds living under the Emperor today never lived under a dragon. Many wouldn’t even have grandparents who lived under dragons. Even if you are told that things were worse in your great grandparents’ day, a shitty system can make you long for change. It can even make you romanticize times that were absolutely worse, if you only know them by tidbits and stories that have lost a lot of their emotional impact.
I also wouldn’t be surprised to hear that some dragons treated their kobolds better than others, and Mac’s family was one of the worst ones. Also also wouldn’t be surprised if some propaganda has wormed its way into retellings, exaggerating how bad things were or how helpful the Emperor was.
I am beginning to wonder if it’s a situation where the stronger a dragon or dragon-like creature is, the more they are just able to control the will of Kobolds around them. Because the set we found in the mind didnt seem like they were normal the closer they were to that thing.
Wasn’t it said that Kobolds mostly don’t suffer dungeon madness… but those ones certainly were?
