Dungeon 9 Turn 50
————
The party starts to move to the right again, while switching their gear around again. Lara gets her new and improved sword back, and Ricki hands off her extra armour. Kamau takes another potion of ectoplasm and reflects on just how many disgusting things he’s had to drink today.
“…Hey! Hey you!”
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the dungeon, a heretic’s machinations bear strange fruit…

You mean Discord thinks he’s created a Faithless? Doesn’t seem likely, given its description.
Anyway, I agree with Ricki: Yay Coccyx!
Or wait a second, I just looked at the picture again and understood what it means for a question mark to be above the necro’s head. He wasn’t expecting that stuff to ooze out of the box…!
The more relevant link is probably this turn – https://dungeoneyes.com/dungeon-3-turn-60/
That’s when we got a panel of the faithless starting to materialize. It’s not exactly the same as what we see this turn but it’s similar. The only commonality is the black ooze, and there were no fumes last time.
The “Heretic” descriptor also probably implies Faithless. Or faithless -adjacent. We will see.
I vote we do whatever we have to in order to put down the necromancer soon, before we lose, die or fail the dungeon. All of these side objectives had just made it much harder to succeed.
HA! Called it last update; Coccyx almost certainly revives with the zombies every ten turns if he’s dead. That might give us another opportunity to recruit him, although it’s looking like we’re going to have another boss monster to fight now that we hit turn 50. I don’t think we can afford to hang around for turn 60, so I think we’d better do what we’re doing before Coccyx kills himself again.
Lets get eyes on this situation.
Ricki move up. Point out the trap to everybody in the party and guide them past it. Then move right.
Everybody else: Follow Ricki up and right, avoiding the trap she points out.
…to below owlbear, not to the top level!
That’s the intention, but I still can’t edit posts.
Folks, now we chose going right, so we must commit to finishing the dungeon right away. Or at least putting this Zombie-Faithless down before doing anything else.
I think we’re glad we went right. Otherwise we’d be stuck in the fight with ghasts with no ability to figure out what happened on turn 50.
Can we have ricki ask Cyx how he’s feeling? It may be that Faithless (if it did spawn) will kill Necro and Free Cyx (if he was under his control)
I want to avoid having Cyx attack any more than necessary, given it killed him last time. If he suddenly isn’t under control, he’ll probably say something new as we’re leaving anyway.
Also if we see a faithless, we know it couldn’t just kill the necromancer because of how the necromancer works. It’d have to kill the big skeleton first. We’ve got full data on the necromancer and on the faithless.
Wouldn’t it be a crazy plot twist if the necro is actually a pretty solid dude. Like what if he’s just practicing just like his description says and he’s not aware what his magic is doing to the surrounding area? And all you have to do is talk to him and let him know what’s up. We should honestly try that while we’re taking out his skeleton golem, just for shiggles.
Even crazier plot twist is if it’s actually him we recruit, and not Coccyx, lmao. What if Coccyx is actually just a low-level summon the necro can make as one of his expendable powers. That would be pretty wild.
