Dungeon 1 Turn 24
————
Ricki heads back down the lower level and watches the guard for a little while, hoping they might asleep. They aren’t, but they do look to be pretty focused on reading and filling out paperwork of some kind. They don’t notice Ricki if she stays near the top of the ladder, but if she went all the way down to the floor she’d probably be seen.
The guard also doesn’t appear to be armed, with their sword leaning against the wall behind them. Also, those keys are hanging lower than the ones in the room above were. Ricki could grab them if the guard wasn’t there.
Ricki: go back to cell 3A and talk to the traitor
And show him the sword. B)
Thank you, yes! The sooner the better
Hmm.. so you could touch the bucket, hide in a chest, hope this guard has to go up snatch the key and sword– That sounds complicated and risky.
Maybe check on our friend first? if you can get past the rats without dying..
Ricki: grab the memo from the wall and then let it drop on the floor below (the one the guard is on), preferably on the right side (ideally near the 3 traps).
When he notices the stray paper (hopefully thinking it is one of his) and goes to pick it up, climb down, sneak up behind him and push him into the 3 traps, then finish him off with your dagger.
You do remember we don’t have full hp, right? Also we have no clue if the traps will weakn the guard enough for us to finish him off, so if we don’t take them out quickly, it will end badly for us. This isn’t a dire rat we are fighting. Its an ARMORED GUARD.
Let’s make the attempt to talk to the traitor again. We at least have a CHANCE to survive the mouse fight to the left. If we get him to join great! If not, too bad. Im thinking once we are sure we want to make the attempt to escape via the sewer grate, we make the attempt to grab the dog food from the bucket. It will make the dogs bark, but since we are leaving, that won’t matter much. And the potential to COMPLETELY avoid the rat fight downstairs with the dog food is too good to pass up!
“Ricki could grab them if the guard wasn’t there.” If the guard wasn’t there, Ricki could either use the sward to fish the keys or she could move the desk below the keys, climb on the desk and fetch the keys, regardless of how high they are placed (but grabbing IS faster!). But the guard is there. – Missing my “Call a vermin swarm” spell: Let the rats and mice swarm and kill the guard. – Ricki, remember to avoid the rat-traps on both upper floors. – Would Ricki be fast enough to jump on the desk and trow down the torch, leaving the guard in darkness, hopefully helpless? Would it be possible to distract the guard by throwing down a burning paper or a rat tail or whatsoever to the right side of the guard’s floor?
