Dungeon 9 Turn 4
————
Botanya returns to the previous room and gives Lara her armour, right before getting shot again by Coccyx, taking no damage. Ricki hacks up the remaining skeleton and kicks its skull off the platform. Kamau spends the entire turn unable to move, then regains feeling in his body.
Hmmm… Theory that cyx targets furthest char into dungeon. Should keep an eye out
More that, with the swapsies, he can’t damage no one, so he fired randomly.
I think he might just fire randomly at all times, since he’d have to know our actions in advance to know that he can’t damage Lara.
And if Coccyx cheats by knowing our actions for the turn before we execute them, he’s dealing exactly 4 damage, since he could have damaged Ricki this turn with 5 damage as she took a blow from the skeleton(those do 2 damage, IIRC).
Plan: deal with bats
Botania: point out which bats are fire bats to lara. Move down ladder and pickup/examin jars.
Lara:snipe a reg bat from bottom of ladder
Kamau interpose for group at ground level
Ricki: swipe at the other fire bat when it descends. Or a reg bat if fire bats have ranged.
Plant attack a reg bat
mushrooms, each attack a reg bat and the fire bat
This should get some good data on the fire bats stats provided we bypass their dodge. This will make this room safer and we can scout, get pick, use lever or examin zombie next turn.
I have lara sniping a reg bat for a guaranteed kill.
We can’t melee the bats, they swarm the nearest target when disturbed, which wouldn’t be us.
this sounds like a plan.
maybe toss a rock at them?
It’s a good idea if we want to occupy cocyx in t this room. The fear is we might kill him, and if we still want to recruit him that could be a problem.
There is a chance that Cyx is recruitable, based on the KoFi page.
Should we warn him that we are gonna mess with the bats, so he has a chance to leave the room? Then the bats will be free to pile on the zombie, sparing us from the infeccion.
He doesn’t care about dying, he told us so. Won’t work.
I don’t think the bats will go for cyx since they can’t see him
I just realized something funny:
Those arrows in the dead skeletons? NOT fired by Coccyx(or anyone at all).
Maybe he did kill them, maybe not, but he definitely walked all the way over to manually arrange those arrows into the corpses after the fact to look like the “greatest archer the world has ever known” he’s claiming to be.
Because fired arrows cannot be recovered yet Botanya successfully grabbed them in a previous turn.
Unless Coccyx has a passive that allows his arrows to be recovered, you mean
Plan: get information (version1)
Everyone: Move to the ground floor
Kamau: Interpose for the party (look out for falling pots or bats)
Botanya: Check out the Pots – pick them up if possible, investigate or destroy one if nothing else can be done
Ricki: Activate the lever, then move one room to the right.
Lara: Find a position of the ground floor from where you can see the zombie-ghoul, then use Venomous Sting on it.
— Reasoning / Explanation —
I don’t think we should focus on the bats, since we don’t know if we actually have to deal with them, whether they would even attack us if disturbed and also because doing so would take precious time with fewer zombies which we should use the figure out what we need to do to beat this dungeon (and recruit Coccyx).
Seeing what the pots & lever do are somewhat obvious choices, as is exploring the next room (Ricki goes there because she has enough move to join the left room next turn should we chose to go there). Kamau’s Interpose is a safeguard against Coccyn pot-shots and/or potential bat disturbance.
Having Lara shoot the Zombie was the only somehwat useful action I could think of for her (ignoring the bats), and this way we at least learn whether it’s immune to poison or not. Migth also learn if zombies/enemies/… are able to move down ladders.
All enemies are able to move down ladders. Even quadrupeds. Zombies will have no issue.
It is not wise to needlessly provoke that zombie. Would be safer to execute that sting from Coccyx’s position.
Cyx will somehow wake the bats, the zombie will start to do things and we will have lots of trouble and at least two zombie hits this and next turn
Plan: get information (version 2, more experimental)
Botanya: Go to the Zombie-Ghoul (close enough for your Aroma to affect it) and play your pipes to distract it.
Lara + Mushroom6: Go to the Zombie-Ghoul and attack it
Ricki: Go to the ground floor and investigate the pots, pick one up if possible otherwise destroy it. Then move one room to the right.
Kamau: Interpose, specifically protect against arrows or other dangers coming from Coccyx, focus on Ricki and ignore the zombie fight if you have to achieve this.
This is more experimental plan than the other one I proposed, but we could learn important things:
This plan does risk some infection on Lara (1/3 unless Kamau can interpose there & against coccyx) and potentially some remorse, though I think this is very unlikely (either the zombie ghoul as insane Atk or Coccyx targets the same person as him *and* Kamau fails to interpose that).
Everyone: stay as a group (until Ricki reaches the right corner of this screen), and move down the ladder.
Kamau: Interpose and move along with the group.
Ricki: inspect a pot. Can they be picked up? Broken? Do they have contents? Then move right one screen.
Lara: Same for the other pot.
Botanya: mulch if possible, pick up an arrow if not.
Moving the lever just for kicks is not very strategical. Neither is angering the zombie we could be attacking from a sniper nest. Also undead are immune to poison.
We are also protected if Coccyx decides to activate the bats.
Variation:
Everyone: stay as a group as much as possible
Kamau: Interpose and move along with the group.
Ricki: inspect a pot. Can they be picked up? Broken? Do they have contents? Then move right one screen.
Lara: go left, pick up a pickaxe and start digging out that mound.
Botanya: mulch if possible, pick up an arrow if not.
No bats plan:
Kamau interpose
Lara go left get pick.
Botania check jars pick up if you can. Scout room to right.
Ricki: go up. Kill last skelly
This gets us more info while keeping everyone safe if bats trigger.
Botania is a better choice for interacting with pots since she has more space and Golly.
Clearing the last skelly up top also secures out escape and Ricki has lots of move
