Dungeon 1 Turn 8
————
Heading towards the ladder leading up, Ricki carefully avoids the heavy-duty mousetrap on the floor. It looks like it would hurt if stepped on, so she will have to be careful to avoid it every time she walked past. It also looks very rusty, so it would probably snap if touched at all, so she doubts she could take it with her.
Before climbing the ladder, Ricki reads the note on the wall:
“Remember to check and replace the rat traps regularly, especially the ones by the sewer grate. Sooner or later the little bastards’ll eat an important prisoner and we’ll catch hell for it.”
On the upper floor, which appears to be the first sublevel of this guard post, Ricki sees another heavily-guarded exit. She would clearly have no chance to survive those three armed guards, and if they spot her they’ll probably raise the alarm early. Can’t get out that way!
Keeeeys! But nothing to dislodge them with.
don’t think you could move the table quietly, or get the bucket from the rat without alerting the dogs. I suggest going back down and trying the door to the left.
I was going to say grab the bucket, but you’re right, the dogs probably would start barking.
Put out the torch, throw the leftover wood piece and try to hit the keys so they fall off the nail/hook/whatever?
Also, can grab a new torch, helpfully already lit, just by climbing the closest ladder a bit.
Also, there’s a piece of paper down below in previous area, we can try to reuse the trick with burning paper to scare off i.e. the small rat near the bucket or something like that… but probably will alert the dogs immediately.
Ricki Quietly climb the ladder and leap off of it to grab the keys on the wall. Once you’ve got those head back down to check out the left room.
Good idea
I also suggest Ricki to grab the torch that’s next to the ladder and arm herself up with two torches.
Sounds like a plan to me!
Ricki, try to aggro the fire rat and lead it into the trap downstairs
*dire rat damn autocorrect
torch + rat = firerat, obviously 😀
Hmm, try to get the bucket, then use it to reach the keys.
Then go back to the cell with the sword and see if the keys match the cell door.
Woah. Reminds me of a different “Choose your own adventure (collectively)” from years ago!
Maybe on some Forum dedicated to another goblin based comic?
Ricky, throw the torch at the keys to knock them off the wall, take the keys, then go back down the ladder.
Can you climb the ladder and fetch the torch without being visible to the guards above?
If you could move one of the mail boxes (?) below the keys, you could step upon the box and reach the keys. BUT: If that is no plush dire rat but a real one, the runes on the wall are magic and the box is too heavy to lift, then you have at least three problems. Not having telekinesis sucks!
Ah! This is so nice! I’ve never done anything like this before!
up the ladder to read the sign, then back down to see what is in the other cell block.
I don’t think that’s a good idea. The dogs will probably start barking the moment they see Ricki and that would alert the guards.
You guys reckon it’s too dangerous to see what’s written on the papers below the guards?
Proposed action: Go back up to the previous room, sneak to the table on the middle floor and read the papers on the left side and then take them with you regardless of what information there is on them. On the way up, grab the torch that’s right next to the ladder.
Why I think this is a good idea:
Overall, I think that we lack two things to be able to come up with a solid plan of escape – information and equipment, so we should start working on both things quickly.
