Ricki finished a dungeon! She can gain one new ability from this list:
Ambush I: +1 Atk when attacking a target that hasn’t interacted with a character previously.
Backstab I: +1 Atk when attacking a target an ally is also attacking.
Big Haul II: +4 Enc.
Case: As an action can identify all items an enemy in the same room carries, even if some items are not visible. Once per dungeon can identify contents of a nearby chest without opening it.
Comforting Weight: +1 Def for each full stack of Gold Coins carried.
Crossbow Proficiency: +1 damage when wielding a crossbow or similar weapon.
Dagger Proficiency: +1 Atk when wielding a dagger or similar weapon.
Dodgy I: Incoming attacks have a 10% chance to miss.
Improvisation: Can use any type of dagger in place of Thieves’ Tools. Daggers always break when used this way.
Sneaky I: Once per dungeon can become undetectable by enemies until end of turn. Can’t be carrying any item of weight 3 or higher while sneaking.
Steal I: Once per dungeon in place of attacking, can try to take one item from an enemy. An item that is carried but not wielded or worn has a 100% chance to be taken successfully. An item that is held or worn has only a 50% chance to be taken successfully. Items have a -10% chance to be taken for each point of weight heavier than 1.
Trap Detection III: Can spot well hidden traps and point them out to allies. Automatically avoid poorly hidden traps.
Trap Disarming: Can expend Thieves’ Tools to render traps harmless, even if they can’t normally be circumvented.
Gotta be Big Haul. Everything else is nice but more stuff is essential since better items (like the wolf/bat hide are higher encumbrance
Just want to point out that it’s 2 extra invitory spaces from what she has now because it’s Big Haul being upgraded from +2 to +4.
That said, yes! Big Haul I’s +2 was already amazing so it’s really hard to say no to another +2!
especially since the last knight’s whole “attacking shit that’s on the floor” gambit.
Or wearing it. More storage space on the main character will allow us to handle more loot.
I vote for Sneaky I.
I think it is great in critical situations and could give new opportunities in combination with Lokh’s
teleportationMom senses.Big Haul II is probably ideal, but I also think Backstab I might be nice
Comforting Weight is tempting to me.
Someone has to carry the Purse and Comforting Weight gives Ricki a bonus when we have enough gold. It can also be viewed as “buying” extra Armor for her at the cost of 20 gold. The obvious main problem is the “if” in if we have enough gold.
To get enough gold we need BH2. Right now, CW would give us nothing
It could be useful next Dungeon if we sell the Double Crossbow. For now though, I expect Big Haul II to win and fully agree with it. I mostly mentioned Comforting Weight for some discussion about it.
I agree, for now i think Big Haul is better, but next level up im for Comfy.
and then back to leveling up Big Haul untill LSN caps it 😀
Hidden benefit to Comforting Weight: No one will leave the purse with all our cash on the ground ever again.
I vote CASE, or STEAL.
It’s not valid, ok, but BigHaul will probably win anyways, so be it. I don’t want to write two posts, because but I really want to write the WHY thing, and write it once.
First BigHaul was a game changer. But this time, it’s not so much. Yeah, last dungeon made us overwhelmed with items, and we hauled and stockpiled them, but we do have 4 people in the team, and we do have some place left in their inventories for acting. +2 enc is handy, but it’s not a game changer.
How much trap detection helped us? It’s an inspection skill. It seemed weak at first.
How much lens helped us? It’s an inspection skill. It seemed too pricey and/or not worth an action at first.
Do you see where it is going? “Case” is also an inspection skill. It can tell us EXACTLY what are the weapons/defences of an enemy, and more. It can also tell us (just once, but still), if a chest is interesting at all. How about we “case”-d the chest over the painting at the entrance? Or the chest in the Knight’s tomb? Or a puzzle chest, since probably they are not excluded from this. “Case” seems weak at first, because we don’t use it now. Just like lens before.
And then Steal-1. Yeah, not that great. But it’s Steal-1. We can’t get or even see higher versions before we take the first one. It’s not great, but higher levels may be easily very great. Especially when paired with Case.
> Once per dungeon can identify contents of a nearby chest without opening it.
If that “nearby” means which can be touched (that is not in the same room, right) then we woudn’t have been able to identify the content of the mentioned chests over the painting at the entrance and in the knight’s tomb.
Hm. Yeah. I assumed that means in-the-room, but now you point it out, and I see there’s a clear distinction between “in the same room” and “nearby”, even in this very text. You are probably right.
Case looks much better if “identifying” items tells us stats for equipment we may not have seen yet.
I think it has to. Would’ve been very useful for the knight, for instance.
Leaning towards Backstab here. Ricki shouldn’t fight alone, so this will be a nice boost
