Ricki climbs partway up the ladder to grab a second torch before entering battle. She isn’t skilled enough to attack effectively with both of them, but it won’t hurt to have a backup in case one of them breaks on the dire rat’s bony skull.
The rat squeaks in anger as Ricki attacks it, taking some damage but not the full brunt of her strike. It hits back, dealing 1 damage. Which of them will outlast the other?

Leave one torch underneath the rat to cause ongoing burn damage, while attacking with the other!
I doubt the rat would willingly stand in fire. Plus, doesn’t the torch go out when dropped?
